MC, Your diagnosis is correct, the issue would be in the timer WP3950736 there is most likely, a weak or bent internal contact or damaged cam wheel activating the fill or spray circuit in the timer at the end of the cycle.

Rhouse for Model Number KAWS677EQ0

Kitchenaid washer will fill but will not agitate. It is silent except for ticking down of timer in cycle which it does as it normally will do in cycle. Timer knob will rotate around until it hits drain point and then it will drain and spin. Then on the rinse cycle it will fill to appropriate level and will stop again, not agitating. It will then rotate to the drain point and drain and spin again. I think it is the timer but I am not sure. I have worked on my appliances myself for many years so I want to know what kind of repair I am looking at. Thank you.

Rhouse, you're on target, based on the information the timer WP3950736 is the place to start. The motor runs in the spin drain direction, that solves the motor and wiring issue. The timer reverses polarity and that controls the direction of the motor. You probably have a damaged contact inside the timer.

Hello Marti, You would want to check the pressure hose to make sure that it is not clogged up. Also check your drain to make sure that it is not clogged and check drain pump for being clogged or having broken vanes.

Hello Ray. Check and see if the lid switch 3949247V is bad or broke. If so, it will prevent the washer from spinning. Hope this helps.

Roger, If this is actually a Whirlpool D/D washer, your first check needs to be at the lid switch WP3949238 . The washer will fill and wash, but will not drain and spin if the switch has an issue. If the washer does drain but no spin, we'll need to get into the clutch assembly or brake pads. Good Luck.
