For Whirlpool Timer (Part Number: OEM18017286)

Sam for Model Number Maytag PAV22300AWW

The washer filled with water but would not agitate or spin on the normal cycle, however, the timer would continue to move. On the delicate cycle, everything worked perfectly. In wrinkle-free it would fill, and agitate, but would not spin, but the timer kept advancing. Put a new timer on and now the machine will fill and agitate but the timer does not advance through the cycles. If I manually move the timer it will go through that sequence, but not advance to the next cycle until I manually move the dial. Did I get a bad timer?

Sam, You will want to double-check your connections to make sure that there are firm connections. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be caused by a faulty timer.

Hello Dale. It sounds like the unit is siphoning out the water in the unit. Check and make sure there is only 6" of drain hose in the drain pipe. Also, make sure the drain pipe is 36" off the floor in height. You will need to check and make sure the drain hose has an air gap going into the drain pipe. If it is air tight, it will siphon.

Hello Lamont, As per the tech sheet: • Check power supply to washer is between 108 V and 132 V during a load on circuit. • Check if Lid Switch 12001187 is functional. Lid must be closed before washer will operate. • Check voltage going into, and out of timer to start and run windings, per ladder diagram. • Check for 120 V to start and run winding at motor per ladder diagram. • Check for a blown motor thermal fuse WP21001950. • Check for obstructions in Drain Pump WP35-6780. • Turn transmission pulley by hand. If locked in agitation direction, replace transmission 35-6615.

Dan, Yes, based on the information this failure would most likely be a contact sticking in the timer and would require a new timer WP21001522.

Hello Dawn. First check the thrust bearing kit 12002213 and see if it is good. If it is good, but the unit still does what you described, then the transmission 35-6615 will need to be replaced in the unit.

Hello Terese. You need to check the pressure switch and see if it is bad and will prevent the unit from agitating. If so, replace the pressure switch or the pressure hose on the unit.
