Roy January 25, 2012 for Model Number MDE4000AYW DRYER- ELE Dryer stopped running, will not start in any cycle. Checked thermal overload by heating unit, start switch, dryer door switch, all OK. With door open and turning cycle switch, sounds like it tries to start for an instant. Moisture light comes on all but one cycle. All this while door is open. Help please.
1 Answer Hello Roy. Test for power to the motor when you try to start the dryer. If the dryer does not start, and there is power to the motor, you will need to replace the motor WP33002795. 1 Answer Hello Cindy. You will need to test and see if there is 120 volts coming to the timer motor WP33001730. If so, and the timer does not run, you will need to replace the timer. If not, you will need to check the heating circuit and see if the unit is not heating properly. If so, it will cause the timer not to run. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
