Stan June 04, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool GHW9100LW I got the F02 error and opened the pump to find 1/2 a fishing weight in the bottom. I suspect that was the triggering event. When I worked with the pump to get it to continue on (hate to buy a new one if it's not needed) I have found that the still-intact impeller and shaft have started a journey out of the motor - advancing toward the intake - causing cavitation and non-pumping. Being ever frugal, I pressed them back in place with a satisfying "snap" as it hit the back wall of the pump housing. It worked GREAT, but about every other load that turkey works its way back out to a non functioning position. Thank heavens for the drain pan under the washer! I suspect I'm destined to press "ORDER NOW" on a new pump, but do you have any other tips or hints which might make the shaft "stay put" in the motor and not work it's way out? Something like "take the housing off the motor, search for a tiny keeper, press shaft into place, place keeper back on shaft, place motor back in housing".
1 Answer Stan, If the impeller and shaft are pushing out and you have to push back in then you will need to replace the drain pump 280187 as it is damaged. Read More...

Scott May 07, 2013 for Model Number 110.42822203 I have a Kenmore Elite He3 front loading washer that I’m experiencing problems with. It is a 10- year old unit. There has been 2 codes on the display several times and they were sud, and F02. I realize that there is a problem with the pump or oversudsing (but there was no detergent in machine at the time). I ran the pump diagnostics on it and it pumped the water out but it seems slow and noisy. The pump also continued to run and timeout after 8-minutes. Also I cleaned the filters and removed the pump to look for debris and none was found. When I spun the pump by hand it wasn’t a smooth motion but had a detent as you rotated it around by hand. Does this sound normal? Or would you advise replacing the pump?
1 Answer Scott, The pump on this unit has a magnet in it and will not spin but will catch as the magnet meets. You may want to try to do a clean cycle for the unit as there may be soap build up on the outer tub that could cause a sudsing issue. This would also cause the pump to time out if the pressure hose does not register that the tub is empty. If after the clean cycle is run the error comes back, check the pressure hose to make sure that it is not clogged or kinked and if it checks ok then replace the drain pump. Read More...
Crystal April 05, 2013 for Model Number Duet Hello. My washer is flashing an F02 light. It sounds like it is draining, but will not cycle through. The last item that was washed was a bathroom rug that ended up getting shredded. Is there a way that the draining hose could be blocked?
1 Answer Crystal, You're on target. The F2 code indicates a drain issue. in a "Duet" washer. Based on your description, you'll need to remove the drain pump and clear all the shredded material from the pump and hoses. Thanks Read More...

Scott March 06, 2013 for Model Number ghw9100lwi recently our washer stopped with 3 mins in the wash cycle. We canceled the cycle, removed the items, which were to wet to put in the dryer and put them in individually and ran them through a rinse and spin cycle, which worked,we also have noticed a small with a small amount of water, in the drum occasionally, after a wash cycle.Something we also use the rinse and spin cycle for.It also has produced a ticking noise during this cycle.Does this sound like the drain pump?
1 Answer Scott, Yes, you'd want to start by checking the drain pump 280187 hoses and filter. Once you remove power to the washer, and the lower access panel on the front of the washer(two screws) you'll have access to everything you need to check and clean. Read More...
