Causes of a malfunctioning washer drain pump assembly can include blockages from small items or debris, such as coins, socks, or lint, that accidentally make their way into the pump.

Symptoms of a bad Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining out of the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area, indicating a blockage or damage
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to inability to drain
  • Error codes displayed on the washer related to draining issues

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Hello Karen, The FH error indicates no water entering the machine. You will want to check to make sure that both supply valves are turned on all the way. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valve. Verify that there is power to the water valve. If there is water in uni then verify the drain pump is operating. Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to tub without being kinked or clogged. Make sure that drain tube is not pushed into standpipe too far causing siphoning effect. Verify the wire connections to valve, pressure switch, flow meter and conrol baord are good. Check hoses for leaks.

Hello Jb, The F2 error indicates a long drain and the SUD indicates an overdose of detergent detected during wash cycle. You will want to check the drain pump for clogs. Check drain hoses including from the tube to the drain tube for obstructions or clogging which could trigger either of these error codes.

Hello Vaclav, You will want to pull the pump and check inside the pump for debris that may have gone into the pump. Check the vanes on the pump to ensure that they are not damaged. If damaged vanes or the pump is clear then check the check ball in the tube on the bottom of the tub and drain line out. If all this checks ok and clear then you would want to replace pump.

Hello George. You need to look and see if a hose is bad on the unit or if the pump is busted on the unit. Replace the part that the water is leaking from.

Hello Steve, Along with the drain lines you will want to check the pressure hose and air dome to make sure that they are clear. The unit is sensing water in the unit that is not pumping out. The chances would be that the hose is kinked or clogged or your pressure switch contacts are stuck causing pump to contuously run.

I observed a SUD error which says I have too many suds. I observed a F02 code that indicates a problem with my pump. The machine works at times and other times it does not work. I have check the drain hose and all is fine. I have check the pump visually and took the assembly apart and all seems to be clear. I can use the machine at times. To do this I leave it unplugged over night and I can perform 1-2 loads and then it quits working. I am think about changing out the pump but am not 100% convinced this is the problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello Veit, Before replacing pump I would suggest running a couple of loads with no detergent but a little bleach. You may have excess build up of detergent in unit which would cause the sud display. If you do this and it still give error codes check to make sure that the pressure hose and air damper is clean.
