This evaporator coil circulates refrigerant inside the freezer cabinet to absorb heat and support the refrigerator's cooling cycle. Replacing a damaged or corroded evaporator restores efficient cold production and reduces frost buildup. What it does:

• Circulates refrigerant through the freezer compartment to absorb heat and enable cooling.

• Commonly associated with symptoms like poor cooling, excessive frost or ice buildup in the freezer, and long or continuous running of the compressor.

• Repair requires appliance power to be disconnected and refrigerant system access.
• May require evacuating/recovering refrigerant, recharging the system, and a vacuum leak test—do not attempt refrigerant work without proper certification and equipment.
• Inspect and replace associated seals, gaskets, or mounting hardware as needed to ensure proper fit and prevent air leaks.
• Verify defrost heater and thermostat function when replacing the evaporator to prevent repeat frost issues.
