• Pumps but will not spin

All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). I began with the first two since they were inexpensive compared to the motor, which was the third cause (and also the least often cause). There is no way to visibly tell if the motor is bad or not. Went to appliance parts pros and typed in the problem, and they had a video on that problem and how to fix it, easy fix, ordered the part, had it 2 days later, took my washer apart while I was waiting for the part to come, and then reviewed the video several times, and then completed my repair, probably saved 150-200 dollars by doing it myself, also had my dryer conk out last year, did the same thing, looked up the problem, ordered the part, and made the repair, the pair is 20 years old, parts...
