The refrigerator / freezer not cooling. Jeffrey S. • Stanfordville , NY • October 03, 2022
This KitchenAid Refrigerator was put into service in 2007. I thought it died 5 years ago when all it needed was a couple of days to defrost some ice build up in the walls between the freezer and refrigerator sections. At that time we bought a smaller new backup refrigerator thinking we'd also be needing a new main refrigerator, but it was really fine after the thaw out. So we kept it!
Then, the other day, it just stopped cooling. I noticed food starting to get soft in the freezer, but the...

Refrigerator quit cooling Mitchell M. • Jackson , GA • May 12, 2017
First I have an LG French Door with a bottom freezer. It quit cooling. I went on line and watched some very informative You Tube videos. I trouble shot according to these videos. In these videos it shows that if there is a click coming off the compressor it has too meanings, the compressor is froze or the start relay is bad. I ohmed the compressor and had no open wires in the compressor. I then shook the relay and it was making noise. The videos stated that is there is a noise in the relay...

Refridgerator & freezer completely warm clicking sound from compressor Rick R. • North Fort Myers , FL • June 21, 2017
I went to appliancepartspros.com and described the symptoms which led to replacing the capacitor. The part arrived the next day!!! Unfortunately the clicking and warmness remained. I went to the online chat and Mandie recommended the relay which was next in the chain before the dreaded compressor. Once again the part arrived the next morning! I snapped it in and I was back in business, 90 dollars total in the two parts. No service call with the standard "it's the compressor" diagnosis. ...

Burning actual flame coming out of 5sp overload/ptc Rick C. • Dover , DE • February 03, 2015
We isolated a burning smell in our kitchen to our refrigerator, GE Profile PSS23MGTCCC which we purchased in November of 2006. This occurred at 3AM on 29 January 2015 and I am thankful that my wife got me up to investigate this odor. I unplugged the refrigerator.
I plugged the refrigerator back in at 6AM thinking it had time to cool. The burning smell happened immediately and I unplugged the refrigerator again right away.
My son in-law looked up some possible issues that could have...

Refridgerator stopped cooling Gary S. • Madison , WI • April 13, 2015
Replaced the Thermistor Assembly and also picked up Overload Protection circuit per the comments posted by the "experts" on the web site. Both parts cheap enough. I ordered parts at 3:30 in the afternoon and they showed up the next morning from half way across the country. Outstanding service. It also fixed the 9 year old refrigerator. Replacing the parts took about a half hour most of which was moving the unit from the wall and removing the panel to get at the parts.

Lg refrigerator compressor would intermittantly hum and shut down but then start normally minutes later Don C. • Pearland , TX • July 23, 2016
After watching repair videos, I decided I could order the parts needed and do it myself for less than a service call, not to mention the additional cost for parts markup and installation that a service technician would charge. I am very pleased that I did. I ordered the start relay, overload and capacitor with some help from Ilya at customer service to make sure I was getting the correct replacements. Installation was easy. The hardest thing was contorting my body into a position where I could...

Running but not cooling Aaron R. • Malakoff , TX • June 12, 2016
Looked up possible causes on line and found video about trouble shooting. It said to check starter cap and run relay on side of compressor.
Removed both and found both were bad .ordered replacements on line from appliancePartspros.com.
Installed new parts and is working properly. This repair job was on a 2012 Frigidaire refrig.
You would think a refrig. Would last longer than 4 years. The original parts and the replacement parts were light weight and cheaply made.
I'll probably be doing this...

Frigidaire starter relay not cooling the refrigerator or freezer Matthew B. • Akron , OH • December 06, 2019
I first determined that it was probably the starter relay due to the fact both fans would kick on and run the compressor will kick on and run for about 6 seconds before turning off so I called around auto parts stores on Google and nobody had the part so I bought it from appliancepartspros.com got it the next day install the parts which are very simple. I also bought a capacitor just in case if that was the problem. Boom, problem solved refrigerator ice cold as it should be. A happy man fixes...

Check compressor with my Hotwire kit I made when I worked for GE. When removing the compressor relay it broke in pieces. Ordered and replaced new relay, overload & run capacitor. Still did not work. Check if there’s power to compressor and found no voltage. Took control board out and found a component burnt. Ordered and replaced control board. Everything is back to normal. Love your service. Maytag not cooling in top freezer or bottom fridge Timothy K. • Sarasota , FL • July 16, 2021
I watched a YouTube tutorial on "fridge's not cooling". A few troubleshooting ideas were discussed, one of which was to replace the "device start" and "run Capacitor". I probably only needed the device start but decided to purchase both through "AppliancePartsPros.com" for a total of $134. It was east to replace and things are starting to cool to their targeted temperatures. Appliance Parts Pros web site saved me from having to purchase a new fridge for about $800.

Freezer would not start Thomas C. • Oxford , GA • October 03, 2014
Looked for obvious signs of mal-function, burned wires, etc. I found that the compressor controller(attached to the compressor) had an obvious burned-out spot. Took a chance that was the problem (it was); ordered all new OEM parts, including a new timer and run capacitor (a part that kicks in every time the compressor starts). I received the parts at 1 PM EST; by 1:48 PM I had the freezer working. Easily saved $250.00. A nice aside was that an Internet competitor was asking $53.00 for the same...
