Heater defroster part number AP5982425. I have GE model GTE16DTHCRBB. I found a Youtube video of a repair of a similar model. Getting the heater defroster out was not a piece of cake because you can not see the mounting due to it being behind the coils, same is true for reinstalling the new. There is a strap on top of the heater defroster that has to be connected to the heater defroster before being reinstalled. It kept falling off as I tried pushing the defroster back into the mounting...

Evaporator fan making noise/changing speed; freezer light socket bad Paul S. • Albany , OH • November 26, 2016
Had some confusion of what part I needed, needed the one with the motor and thermostat. Fortunately, I've been fixing wiring for many years, I simply cut the new motor out of the harness, and used that nice glue-inside-heat-shrink tubing to seal the soldered 'Western Union' style splices. New light socket and lamps fit fine, worked fine, new motor is fine, problem resolved. FYI: Look closely at the wiring in you unit, there are two wire harnesses, one feeds the light, the other feeds the motor...

Samsung refrigerator kept icing up causing a loud sound when fan hit it and eventually preventing the fan from moving. Lisa E. • Old Bridge , NJ • September 13, 2020
After having a refrigerator repairman come 2 x’s to fix and it kept icing up then calls to the refrigerator repair were going unanswered I decided I was going to fix it myself. I watched 2 YouTube videos and decided I could do that. I order all the parts to change everything that could possibly be causing this. Heating element, defrost sensor, and 2 different temperature sensors. I figured if I was going to take the refrigerator apart I might as well try everything rather than having to do...

This was for a friend of mine his refrigerator stopped cooling Gary G. • Ofallon , MO • July 12, 2015
This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart.

Malfunctioning defrost heater Robert R. • Asheville , NC • March 11, 2015
Total repair took slightly over 1 hour. Would have taken longer had I not already have taken the freezer apart on a previous occasion. Therefore I already knew the sequence and was able to disassemble it quickly. A little tricky getting the part out but easier to get it in. SImple repair for anyone mechanically inclined.

Fresh food section of refrigerator was not cooling while freezer section was ok Erick Y. • Novato , CA • October 08, 2018
Isolated the problem to extreme frost build up on the evaporator coils.
I measured an open circuit on the defrost heater/thermostat, so I ordered both.
Following the procedure in the GE service manual for this refrigerator, I gained access to the evaporator in the back of the freezer section, and I replaced the both heater element and the defrost thermostat. Refrigerator cools fine now.
The most unexpected thing was how quickly the parts came. They arrived at my front door 18 hours after...

Order part at appliancepartspros.com *( Heater and Thermal Assy. ) and with that I watch a video on how to repair my fridge. It took me about 15 minutes to replace the parts. I think it took me longer than that to watch the video itself because I want to make sure that I will do it right. Replacing a part is very easy, now after two weeks my refrigerator is running good so far !!!!

A real oddesy with a Samsung Refrigerator. Samsung customer servicen is a joke, but thanks to Appliance Parts Pros, I have been able to fix the various problems I have had. It is three years old, but began having serious problems about a year ago. The display was out, and the food temp in the refrigerator side varied from 30 degrees in the crispers to 56 degrees on the top shelf. None of the independent repairman I found had the diagnostic tools for Samsung, and the nearest authorized...

Called AppliancePartsPros and talked to Sally. Sally was a big help in troubleshooting the problem. I ordered and replaced the cooling coil heater.
