Maytag Gas Dryer Model: MGDE300VW1 I had previous experience with repairing my dryers, but this was a first for this model. Instructional videos very helpful. I had replaced the Agitator cams a couple of times already due to my brother-in-law overloading the machine which stripped the teeth off of the cams. I also noticed the agitator seemed to 'wobble' and made 'knocking' noises quite a bit. I decided that since I would be replacing the 4 drum rollers that I should replace the belt and the belt drive pulley. This was a simple project thanks to YouTube. Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I bought an ignitor at a local store as there was a national holiday the next day and I did not want the dryer inoperative waiting several days for shipping. First went through the troubleshooting guide on the website and read the various stories and watched the repair videos for replacing the springs and suspension pads. Then before ordering any parts disassembled the machine only to the point of removing the cabinet to see if there were any obvious issues. The clutch was bad but once inside I noticed grease everywhere and after a quick online chat with rep. determined gear case was leaking and needed replacement. Replaced clutch & gear case. I wanted to avoid pulling the drum. Luckily, my blower was easily accessed by pulling the front bottom panel. A couple of sheet metal screws were all I needed to remove the fan housing cover. I knew the fan was on reverse threads, i.e. righty-untighty. As it spins it tightens so no need for a retaining nut. I took off a screw holding on the exhaust tube and wiggled it out. Use the videos on this website here and you can repair most brands. Many are duplicate in design. 1. Unplug the machine. 2. Move it away from a confined area to get more room. 3. Remove lint filter and the two screws that hold the exhaust filter port to the top of the cabinet. 4. Use a putty knife or actually a butter knife and release the top of the cabinet from the main drum housing. You will slide the knife between the top and the main cabinet at the plastic catches. The lid shut-off switch is located behind the lid How About That. I order the plastic ball the hold the lid in place plus the lid shut off switch. I watched the video that AppliancePartsPros.com has on how to replace the lid and the plastic balls.
