I noticed the floor around the dishwasher was starting to get wet and warp the wooden floor. The chopper had gotten out of line and had cut a pinhole into the sump housing and the dishwasher was leaking badly. It was quite easy to repair. Just unhook the drain hose and the wire connectors, twist off the turbidity sensor and waste motor, pull out the shims and the whole assemple comes up and out. The hardest part was pulling the motor off of the assembly, since I wasn't sure if I needed to... Read more

This is a 12 year old Kenmore, but my experience applies to many dishwashers. The machine had run for almost a year without being cleaned. I found parts had failed from age and water passages were jammed with hard-water deposits and pieces of food, labels, etc. that had gotten past the filters. I cleaned out what I could and replaced parts that could not be cleaned or were damaged. Dishwasher now works better than it has for years. The work, including ordering parts, took about 4 hours, but... Read more

This dishrack organizes and supports dishes inside the dishwasher during wash cycles. Replacing a damaged rack restores smooth loading, keeps items upright, and helps prevent rust stains or snags from broken tines or flaking rack coating.
Kitchen Aid dishwasher is 11 years old, and the tines have been rusting and biting the dust one by over the last few years. Rather than further destroy my dishes by abrading them with rust particles, I decided to get new racks. They are terribly expensive, and I pondered getting a new dishwasher. It wouldn't be that much more expensive. But I love mine and how well it washes. It has a stainless interior, and all of the seals are in excellent shape. I didn't need any tools. (Although I'm a... The video on AppliancePartsPro is not for the part I ordered. After searching a bit I learned that I needed a 3/16" hex driver to remove the two screws that hold the assembly to the washer. My nine year old said the following to me while I was looking for a tool to complete the task. "mom do you remember a couple of months ago when you and daddy were trying to fix something? You went to the store and bought tools and you ended up calling repairman to fix it? That's their job, mom. Repairmen fix stuff. You are not a repairman" I fixed this my self in just over a hour. Take that! Read more
