This water inlet valve controls the flow of water into the washing machine during fill cycles. It uses an electrically operated solenoid to open and close in response to signals from the control board. Replace this valve if your washer is not filling with water, filling slowly, leaking from the back, or continuing to fill when it should stop.

I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. Used for lid switch.
Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!)
