Fridge was making clicking noise and not cooling. Ice dispenser wasn’t working either. Research lead me to believe main board was out. YouTube video said to also replace compressor start relay and overload as well. Replaced all 3 parts in 15 minutes and back up and running. Read more
I emptied door shelves and used plastic sheet to close off refrigerator. The repair was done with refrigerator running. I removed door and changed riser cam and shim. Then replaced door. It took maybe 45 minutes from start to finish. If I did the job again it would be completed in 30 minutes or less. The videos are informative. Thank You Read more
Refrigerator won't cool and compressor just clicks or hums? The start relay helps the compressor motor start. Moderate DIY repair, clean coils first.
I researched the problem and determined that the only thing that can cause this was compressor bad or not starting. Since it was cold the day before I felt it had to be the starter parts and ordered them. It was also very important to clean the coil which I believe caused the over heating. Read more

The ice dispenser door was not closing tightly. As a result, there was frost build up in the ice chute, which also was allowing ambient air and temperature into the freezer compartment. Upon further inspection, there was black “schmutz” on the ice door, and the rubber ice funnel and deflector parts were deteriorating. This is the ice container only.
Drilled out the rivets on the rear of the bucket shelf on each side (needed an angle drive drill for the left side) and removed the front screws. Installed the new shelf both sides with original screws in the front and 8-32 bolts and nuts in the rear. 3 screws to install the bucket to the auger assembly. Read more

From the AppliancePartsPros web site I found that 80% of the time either one or both of the defrost heater or timer caused these symptoms. Ordered and received the parts in less than 2 days. Replaced both parts in less than 2 hours without any hassles. Only 48 hours have past but all is operating with the proper temperatures. Ok so my mom called GE and a service man came out. He said no good. The refrigerator was to old to be fixed. You will have to buy a new one .. ok so with that said he collected his $100 dollars service fee !!! I slid the refer out and started tinkering with it. It was fairly simple. The blade just slides onto the post of the condenser. Thanks to Appliance Pros, we should not have this problem again. We were offered to buy a special 28" long brush made to clean the refrigerator coils, and it works great! :) Read more
Ordered the parts and in a couple of days they arrived. A simple Philips screw driver was all that was needed to complete the install. Very simple, not complicated. Swapped it out for new tube. Take 5 minutes and zero effort. The drain tube will clog with mold. You can clean it out but the tube will clog again despite's you best efforts as the tube wall provide a great habitat. Ordered new tubes to facilitate swap-outs. Old tubes can be cleaned but will recolonize quickly. Read more
