After reading several stories online about what to replace to fix the issue with my dryer not completely drying my clothes I decided to purchase a heating assembly, a sensor and a thermistor. I am not sure which one of these three pieces corrected the issue, but my dryer is back to drying my clothes as it should. The Youtube video's are priceless in helping to find and replace the parts. The Hi Limit Thermostat Assembly is an OEM part for LG dryers. This thermostat monitors and regulates the temperature within the dryer to prevent overheating, ensuring safe and efficient operation. It acts as a safety device that shuts off the heating element if the dryer exceeds a certain temperature, protecting the appliance and your home from potential fire hazards.
Over time, the hi limit thermostat can fail due to wear and tear, electrical issues, or repeated exposure to high temperatures. If the thermostat becomes faulty, it can lead to improper temperature regulation within the dryer.
Symptoms of a bad hi limit thermostat include:
This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.
Checked and cleaned vent which was in need of cleaning, but not too bad (I do not consider this a primary causal detail, but can be a problem, so clean yours). Replaced Hi-Limit Thermostat (safety thermostat) after confirming the circuit was open with ohm meter. While I was in there, I completely cleaned the heater and ducting and internal workings of the dryer. Confirmed the heater coils were good via 20ohm, 20ohm, 40ohm readings (LG service manual has wrong readings). Two weeks later, same... Read more
Replace your dryer drum seal when clothes take longer to dry or you notice lint buildup. Maintains heat efficiency and prevents air leaks. Confirm fit with your model number.
From reading "troubleshooting" sites on the internet, originally thought I'd be replacing the front & rear drum rollers, so I ordered the rollers, and a new belt before I opened up the dryer, taking it out of use. When I opened it up the front rollers were "shot", and the front bulkhead was "totaled". Waited for parts to arrive (within 2 days), and successfully replaced front & rear rollers, bulkhead, drum seal. The on-line videos really helped me ensure I was keeping in the right order. My... Dryer won't start or runs with door open? This door switch kit restores safety shutdown function. Simple clip-in repair takes 15-30 minutes. Video included.
The timer knob simply pulls off the shaft with a solid, steady pull. Cleaned the timer cavity of lint/dust buildup. Aligned the keying flat of the shaft and knob and pushed the new knob on with careful, steady pressure until it was obviously seated. No tools required other than a vacuum. The door switch would sometimes not shut the dryer off when the door was opened. New switch came with new fast-on connectors. Replacement required opening the top cover of the dryer and hinging it up. This... Read more
Maintains belt alignment and tension in your dryer. Replace if pulley is squeaking, seized, cracked, or no longer spinning freely on the shaft.
I've had this dryer apart a few times over the years, always got my parts here. Squeaks and igniter if memory serves. I ordered the two drum rollers that have a bearing in the center..they sit on metal shafts and freeroll. I ordered two..only one was bad but I needed the dryer up in one day, no time to disassemble and decide what to order then wait for parts. Tip: if you order the rollers, there are little washers (nylon?) between the roller and the c clips..don't lose them..they are hard to... Read more
Guides and secures the lint filter in place within your dryer. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing to properly hold the lint screen assembly.
I have order three parts, guide filter, cover guide, and sensor assembly. My previous cover guide was from two parts, when sensor assembly was one of them. New part ( guide cover ) was all in one piece so I just transfer old metal part of sensor to new cover guide and I don't need that sensor assembly anymore. I have ordered all three parts overnight by Fedex, ordered 15 min before 5pm, so next day it was here. Dryer is fixed, I'm happy. Read more
Dryer not heating or overheating and shutting off? This thermostat assembly regulates temperature to prevent damage. Easy DIY repair in about 1 hour.
After I cleaned out the typical 1.5 pounds of lint from the vent, ( I do it every 2 months), I went searching for a solution. I found 6 possible causes on this site and purchased everything except a new burner; I wasn't going to go that far. Let the fun begin. Since my vacuum was still nearby, I thought I was ready for anything. Wrong. After I watched all the videos again for reassurance, I went in with screwdriver in hand and laptop nearby. I removed the top and looked inside. Don't be fooled,... Read more
Dryer won't start or stops heating? This thermostat and thermal fuse kit fixes no-heat and no-power issues. Easy 30-minute repair with video guide.
I posted the following on the Facebook page ; SOoooo my 10 year old clothes dryer stopped and like almost everyone else I just figured it's shot, burned up, gotta get a new one. Well, due to a few bumps in the road I cannot afford another problem. My 2 vehicles are not running and with one being in the shop for 3 weeks and not being able to afford a rental car anymore this dryer was another headache. It sat for weeks and laundry started piling up. While looking online for sales somehow I... Read more
Cover that secures the lint filter housing in place. Replacement needed when original is cracked, broken, or split from normal wear or impact damage.
The dryer is 10 years old. I replaced all 4 roller wheels. While I had it apart I also replaced the drive belt and the idler pulley assembly. Once I had it apart I did find 2 wheels that were very worn, (1 front, 1 back) which is what I believe the problem was as they were also very hard to spin. Dryer works like new now. The repair video was VERY helpful. Read more
Fix a dryer that hums but won't turn with a new drive motor. This repair addresses seized bearings and worn motor assemblies. Moderate DIY project.
Unplugged unit from power. Removed two sheet metal screws and lower front panel, removed two sheet metal screws and door panel (disconnected three door switch wires and two light wires - noted the connected position of each wire ); removed three self-tapping screws and black plastic hot air outlet to fan duct from lower end of front bulkhead; removed sheet metal screws and front bulkhead; removed two sheet metal screws from dryer top panel and raised top up and back on rear hinge brackets;... Dryer not heating or blowing cold air? The heating element converts electrical energy to heat for drying. Most DIYers complete this repair in 45-60 minutes.
The heating element had a break in the heater coils, so I replaced it with a new one from Appliance Parts Pros. I also replaced the thermal fusible link and thermostat switch because they were so cheap it just made sense to go ahead and do it while I was in there. I also cleaned every nook & cranny in the dryer, then cleaned out the vent piping- which was about 100% clogged. The video's of how to tear down a dryer were indispensable to this repair - along with APP's always having the right... Read more
Dryer running too hot or overheating? The hi-limit thermostat cuts power to the heating element when temps exceed safe limits. Easy DIY replacement.
Dryer not heating or taking multiple cycles to dry? This heating element kit restores heat generation. DIY-friendly repair, typically done in minutes.
I had to pop the lid up from the front with a screw driver, and behind the element was a metal piece, a heat shield, that had two screws that had to be removed from the back. The little part with the blue round tag (part of the kit that came with the element) was easily removed with one screw. Likewise, the element had a single longer screw holding it in on the right, and on the left a little rod was sticking through a hole in the metal, and you can merely move it to the side and up the slot,... The Blower Wheel is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. It is essential for circulating air through the dryer's drum, helping to efficiently and evenly dry clothes by moving heated air past the tumbling laundry. This component is crucial for maintaining the performance and energy efficiency of your dryer.
Symptoms of a bad Blower Wheel include:
Causes of a bad blower wheel can include physical damage from foreign objects hitting the wheel, wear and tear from regular use, or accumulation of lint and debris that unbalances the wheel.
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
I removed the front panel of the dryer and the metal cover over the blower wheel. Removed the lock ring and clamp. Removed the old wheel and placed the new wheel on the shaft. I thoroughly cleaned all the lint around the area and inside the front cover. I resealed the metal cover over the blower and reinstalled the front cover. Dryer works great. Easy fix, I spent more time thoroughly cleaning all the lint. Read more
Replace your dryer's drum felt seal to stop air leaks, reduce noise, and prevent clothing stains. Fits between drum and bulkhead. Confirm fit with model.
After replacing thermal fuse once and having it fail a second time, I had to dig a little deeper to uncover the problem. I checked for blockage in the vent but everything was clear. I did, however, find that the drum had some up and down play in it. After closer inspection, I could see that the front drum seal was actually worn to the point that I could see a gap between the seal and the drum. I figured that the gap in the seal was letting air in and not letting sufficient air flow through the... Read more
Idler pulley maintains tension on the dryer belt. Replace if worn, cracked, or causing belt slippage. Installs between motor and drum support system.
I have an LG dryer purchased in 2007. Model: DLE9577SM. It was squeaking at start-up and rumbling a little. Not knowing what parts I would actually need, I ordered rollers with/without assemblies, tensioner pulley-only, new belt. After viewing this video a couple of times, I attacked my machine which is located in the comfort of my garage. Lots of room to spread out. Nice. This disassembly went OK however because, I suspect, my machine is 13 years old, the removal of the control panel was... Read more
