William K Apopka , FL April 04, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer PYE2300AYW Blower wheel had broken at the shaft I removed the front panel of the dryer and the metal cover over the blower wheel. Removed the lock ring and clamp. Removed the old wheel and placed the new wheel on the shaft. I thoroughly cleaned all the lint around the area and inside the front cover. I resealed the metal cover over the blower and reinstalled the front cover. Dryer works great. Easy fix, I spent more time thoroughly cleaning all the lint. Don S Somersworth , NH March 17, 2014 The Blower Wheel was cracked and had shattered inside the housing. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most exhausting, challenging repair...this was a 1 or less. Pry up the top of the Dryer...remove 2 screws at the top of the front panel and remove the panel. At the bottom of the dryer is the Blower Housing...remove screws, take off the front of the housing and remove the broken Wheel. Replace with the new Wheel, secure with clamp and locking washer. Reverse the process, plug in the dryer and get to work on the Laundry. The fit was a little tight so I had to slightly file and smooth the sharp edges off of the end of the shaft that were hanging up on the inside of the plastic hub of the blower wheel. Also used a little dish soap to help slide the wheel on the motor shaft. Replace all new retaining ring, blower wheel, clamp, retaining ring, then blower cover and front cover to dryer. Super easy fix!!
