The Broken Tab Ice Door Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This kit includes all the necessary components to repair or replace the ice door chute, which is responsible for dispensing ice from the ice maker to the ice bucket or directly to the user. The ice door chute must seal properly to prevent warm air from entering the freezer compartment, which can lead to frost and ice buildup.
Symptoms of a failing or broken ice door chute include:
- Ice accumulating around the ice dispenser chute
- Frost buildup in the freezer compartment
- Warm air leaking into the freezer, causing temperature fluctuations
- The ice door not closing properly or becoming stuck
- Unusual noises from the ice dispenser area
Causes of a broken ice door chute can include regular wear and tear, physical damage from mishandling or excessive force, or deterioration of the sealing components over time.
This OEM part is also compatible with some models from Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore.
This kit is used if the ice door mounting tabs are broken off of the dispenser wall. If your model number uses this ice door WP2180353 or this ice door kit W10823377 this kit can be used.

Broken hinge tabs for kitchenaid ice dispenser door John H. • Keller , TX • June 13, 2014
I used the Broken Tab Ice Door Kit and the repair was perfect! The ice dispenser works better now than before the door broke. Buy the repair kit, follow the instructions, and here's a few notes from my experience:
1. I initially only removed the broken/fragmented parts of the ice door tab hinges. The metal adapter fits around the existing hinges.
2. I did a few (3 to 4) test fits of the adapter using the hinge pin and door to check for proper alignment. I ended up shaving off a bit of...

Ice cube dispenser/flap was broken not actuating the ice bucket motor. Peter P. • Sonoma , CA • July 24, 2023
Ice Door Kit, Control Bracket, and Ice Dispenser Guide were purchased. I followed two videos on replacing the parts. The Control Bracket WP2180226 / AP6005965, was straight forward and I discovered a snapped pin on the old bracket causing an electric switch to be out of place... that repair was easy.
When it came to the hinges of the ice chute, I discovered the snap-in, on right side, of the hinge was cracked... this is why the pin escaped. This cracked part is molded into the entire...

- Unusual noises from the cooling system
- Components becoming loose or detaching
- Increased energy consumption

Whirlpool refrigerator stopped cooling clicks and buzzes were heard every couple of minutes Chris P. • Houston , TX • May 03, 2014
Googled the symptoms and realized it was probably the Start Relay. To check, I unplugged the refrigerator, took off the back panel, and pulled the old start relay off. I shook it and it rattled, like something was broken inside. That was the sign that it did indeed need to be replaced. Looked up the part on www.appliancepartpros.com and found it. Ordered it and it was here two days later. Replaced the old one and the refrigerator started cooling again. Very easy fix that saved me calling a...
