Refrigerator not cooling or running? This inverter control board supplies power to the compressor. Moderate DIY repair requiring basic electrical testing.
Compressor not running. Check power going to it and nothing. Tested ohms on the compressor. 8-10 ohms approx Lights and display all working normal so I assumed the main board was ok Replaced the inverter board. Confirmed there was 4-5bdc on the red and white trigger plug on the inverter. Internal water reservoir with attached tubing that stores and delivers chilled water to the dispenser. Replace if cracked, leaking, or damaged.
Installing the tank went quickly. Removed the water filter from the upper compartment to stop water flow to the tank. Had to remove the two lower drawers (they tilt out of their sliding frames). There is a glass shelf that should be pulled out - it slides out via two notches in the front frame. The water tank is behind a white metal cover held by 4 screws. Keep track of all of the parts including the lip seals from the shelf. I used two Watts 5/15x5/16 couplers from Lowes for the connections.... Read more

Ordered the new interface display - this must be the easiest refrigerator repair possible. My version popped right off without even a screw (some models have a screw). There are 3 different sizes of connector to disconnect and hook up to the new board - so you really can't mess that up. Read more

The problem was most likely the evaporator fan motor but it could have been a bad blade, loose parts or bad motor mounts. Hard to tell without taking everything apart and inspecting. Since fridge was 17 years old I decided to order the entire evaporator fan assembly as shown in the parts diagram including fan blade, motor brackets, motor, motor mounts, screws, etc. Getting to the assembly involved removing the ice maker unit plus the entire rear inside of the freezer section.
