Symptoms of a bad Auger Dispenser Drive Coupler include:
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
This was a two and half year issue as different things failed at different times. I would get one part, then another would fail. Ultimately, I got to a point where what failed, I hadn't been ordered the part yet. The seal on the freezer door took three bathing's before it plumped up and un-creased. The directions on the box it is shipped in said to heat the seal up in hot water then cool it down with tap water. I didn't need to do that. It took a lot of massaging of the seal, but... Read more
The Icemaker Fill Cup is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. This component is specifically designed to channel water from the fill tube into the ice mold.
Symptoms of a bad Icemaker Fill Cup include:
Causes for a malfunctioning Icemaker Fill Cup can range from physical damage, such as cracks or warping due to temperature fluctuations, to blockages that impede the flow of water into the ice mold.
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore refrigerators.
Replaced the stripper and fill cup - turns out that the fill cup came with the locking tab broken off. The stripper had a missing paddle, and ice cubes would jam and shut down the ice maker periodically. Let the ice maker warm up after you remove it so the plastic is not so brittle. You have to pry the old stripper out. Make sure the new one locks all across the front. My refrigerator has the ice maker mount toe the side instead of from the hangers in back. I wasn't sure how to remove it,... Read more
The Pan Cover Wheel is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It supports the movement of the fresh food section, allowing it to slide smoothly when accessing the refrigerator’s drawers.
Over time, the pan cover wheel can wear out or become damaged due to regular use, exposure to the weight of food items, or accidental impacts. If the wheel is faulty, it can hinder the smooth operation of the pan cover.
Symptoms of a bad pan cover wheel include:
Used the schematic provided to select the parts needing replacement and placed the order. Parts arrived and swapping new for old was simple. For the most part it was a matter of taking out the old and putting in the new. There were a few screws with wheels to replace but that was easy as well. Before purchase I searched several different sites and found all the parts needed. I compared prices of each item as well as shipping cost. Prices for each item were nearly identical between sites... The Temperature Sensor Seal is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This seal is designed to protect the temperature sensor from moisture and other environmental factors that could affect its accuracy and longevity. By providing a barrier against the harsh conditions within a refrigerator, such as humidity and temperature fluctuations, this seal ensures that the sensor can accurately monitor and control the refrigerator's internal temperature.
Causes of a malfunctioning Temperature Sensor Seal can include wear and tear over time, degrading the seal's effectiveness. Physical damage like tears or punctures can allow moisture to reach the sensor. Improper installation may leave gaps or loose areas around the sensor, compromising the seal.
Symptoms of a bad Temperature Sensor Seal include:
This fridge has had a problem of ice building up around evaporator coil in fresh food side. Wife (she HATES this thing) says it's done this from day one; 10 years. GE guy says all these models do this and there's no fix for it, so we have clean out the ice periodically... Like the 1940s pre auto defrost. Now with the issue of FF side temp too highi assumed the ice had built up around FF evaporator coil preventing proper cooling, but AppliancePartsPros.com suggested the FF temp thermistor may... The Drain Tube is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is responsible for directing defrost water to the drain pan located beneath the appliance, where it can evaporate safely.
Causes of a bad drain tube can include blockages from debris or ice, physical damage such as cracks or splits that allow water leakage, or a disconnection from its fitting points due to improper installation or material fatigue.
Symptoms of a bad Drain Tube include:
Pulled down the existing drain tube and installed new one. Tight area so it requires two hands to push up and attach the new tube. The short rubber tubing attached to the new drain tube has to fit snug onto the plastic tube connection that hangs down. Replacing the water dispenser tray is simple and no explanation needed, Read more
This air damper assembly regulates the flow of cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator compartment to keep temperatures even. Replace a stuck or broken damper to restore proper cooling and prevent warm spots or food freezing.
It started with clicking sounds for about 10 seconds at random times throughout the day. eventually the clicking sounds were gone and the temperature in the fresh food section was dropping below freezing. Turns out that one of the 3 damper doors was stuck open. My fridge has a damper door in the top left and 2 doors in the bottom left. One of the bottom doors was dedicated to the quick chill drawer which hadn't worked in some time. but since the quick chill door was stuck closed it did not... Read more
The Ice Deflector Spring is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. This spring is a crucial component of the ice dispensing system, specifically in selecting between crushed and whole ice cubes. It is designed to always force the diverter back in a way that the cubes get crushed. When whole cubes are selected, the solenoid pulls the lever against the spring’s tension to shift the configuration, allowing cubes to bypass the crusher blades.
Causes for a malfunctioning Ice Deflector Spring can include wear and tear from regular use, corrosion due to constant exposure to moisture, or mechanical failure that prevents it from effectively reverting the diverter to the crushed ice configuration.
Symptoms of a bad Ice Deflector Spring include:
When I took it apart I found that the drive cup was cracked, the helix lock plate hole was reamed out and the ice deflector spring was broken. The biggest problem was the helix had slipped down the shaft and allowed the end of the shaft to bore a hole in the housing which made it a bear to get out. Others have had the same problem. Once I got past that obstacle, it was simple to replace all the parts and it's working like normal again. Very helpful video explaining the repair. Read more
The Glide Bracket is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This left bracket supports the refrigerator drawer, allowing it to slide in and out smoothly for easy access to stored items.
Causes of a bad glide bracket can include regular wear and tear, damage from overloading the drawer, or accidental impact that causes the bracket to crack or break.
Symptoms of a bad glide bracket include:
The hinge broke on the ice dispenser funnel and housing. I took them off and replace them, putting the old switches and bulb in the new housing. It took some time to put the return spring back because it does not appear in the assembly diagram. Once working, it secures to the door with 4 screws, and worked as it should. The support slide inside the freezer is held with two 1/4 in screws that were taken off with a nut driver. the rear screw is hard to get at. The new bracket just screws on, and... Read more
This evaporator fan motor dust cap is an authentic OEM replacement part found on refrigerator and freezer fan motors. This dust cap prevents the fan motor bearing and housing from being damaged by dirt and debris. If the dust cap is cracked or broken, the fan may make loud squealing noises. If the dust cap is not removed and replaced, the fan could stop working and ultimately cause the refrigerator's temperature to be affected. To start, disconnect the power and water to the refrigerator. Remove food from the freezer so that the back panel of the freezer can be accessed to reach the fan. Remove the ice maker and set it outside the freezer. Disconnect the fan and take it out of the freezer to expose the fan's shaft and the dust cover. Pry the dust cover off and install the new one. Replace the fan and cover. Reconnect the wires and reinstall the icemaker. Put the food back in the freezer. Reconnect the power and water. The evaporator fan motor dust cap is a white plastic part that is sold individually. This dust cover is made for use in refrigerators manufactured by General Electric, Hotpoint, and Kenmore.
Replacement of the evaporator fan motor, fan blade, and grommets. The amount of disassembly to reach the part took most of the effort Read more
