Washer bouncing or grinding? The hub connects the tub to the transmission. Moderate DIY repair requires removing the agitator and aligning spindle teeth.
First it was covered under warranty. They sent a repair person out and he said it had an extra washer holding the tub down to the transmission. He removed the washer and it worked for about a month then the same thing started happening again. I took the washer apart and realized it was missing the washer hub which holds the tub off the bottom. Problem is fixed now, go GE. Maybe include all the parts in your washing machines. Read more
Fix grinding noises during agitation with this washer hub nut washer. Secures the hub and keeps the drum aligned during wash and spin cycles.
Using repair help suggestions from other users and youtube, I narrowed it down to the transmission (part #320) mainly because it was a metal-to-metal noise. The parts came in one day, thank you AppliancePartsPros.com. I installed the transmission but the noise was still there. Unfortunately, I didn't investigate enough and found a youtube video that suggested it could be the mode shifter (part #325) and that's what it was. I replaced the drain pump and replaced the belt while I was under there since I noticed some shreds on the ground when I was investigating the problem originally. I am a girl and it was fairly easy to diagnose. I found the codes listed on the paper that’s taped inside the washer. There’s a service mode I was able to enter and that opened up the test mode. Every test was successful except for the drain test. So I entered my model on this site and was able to find the parts I needed Read more
Washer not heating water correctly or wonky water temperature? The thermistor monitors water temp during cycles. Common DIY fix, takes about 30 minutes.
After a few internet searches, it became clear that the most common fix for this issue is replacing the water inlet valve. My washer is about five years old, which aligns with the typical lifespan of these valves. I ordered the OEM parts for this washer, as this is not something you want failing and potentially flooding your home while you’re away. The thermistor is installed directly into the valve and uses an O-ring that is known to degrade and leak over time. Since the thermistor has to be... Read more
