This retainer ring is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer for use on front load washing machines to hold the boot seal in place. The boot seal is the gasket that seals the washing machine when the door is closed to prevent water from leaking. The retainer ring is located flush against the boot seal and has either a spring clamp or screw clamp that secures it. Over time, this ring may become damaged due to the washing machine's normal use and age. If the ring is not tight, the washing machine could leak when in use. If water is coming from the door, it is a good idea to inspect and replace the retainer ring and possibly the boot as well.Unplug the washing machine to prevent electrocution. Remove the front panel, the detergent dispenser, and the kickplate to access the retainer ring. Locate the clamp on the ring and loosen it. Remove the retainer ring and set it to the side. Inspect the boot and then install the new retainer ring. Tighten the clamp and reassemble the washing machine. This retainer ring is sold as an individual unit. It is designed specifically for washing machines manufactured by Whirlpool.

On a 3 year old Maytag...........New gear case and hub installed. The videos produced by AppliancePartsPros are quite helpful, even though the video was not of the exact make and model number I was repairing, the similarities were so great that it may as well have been the same make and model number (whirlpool and Maytag essentially make the same thing and slap I different sticker on them) Read more

Fix a slipping or freely spinning top agitator with this upper auger. Restores the ratcheting motion that pulls clothes down. Quick 3-minute repair.
I have a 25 year old Kenmore washer that works well and didn't want to get a new washer as they don't make them like they used to. Upon removing the top cap of the agitator and doing an inspection, the agitator dogs were completely broken into pieces. Due to age we decided to replace the lower and upper agitator along with the agitator auger dogs repair kit. All new parts and works fine. On inspection of old parts, we probably could have gotten away with just a $5 repair for the plastic... Read more

Push-in.
I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. Agitator won't move or slips during wash? A worn drive shaft causes weak agitation. This shaft transfers motion from the gearcase to restore firm engagement.
I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time. Read more
