Fix a burner that won't light or only clicks by replacing the igniter. This DIY repair takes about 10 minutes with basic tools. Fits GE gas cooktops.
Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. After that initial diagnose, I reassembled the cooktop without the igniters and ordered all the parts I needed. The second stage was... Read more
Mounts behind the control panel to support and align your range touchpad. Replace if cracked, broken, or causing buttons to misalign for a solid fit.
A very common problem with the GE oven is the dreaded F7 error code. I purchased the control board as well as the keypad and replaced both. The error code could have been either part but since I saw a lot of grease, I chose to change out both even though I isolated the problem to the keypad only. Burner head sits on top of the burner base on gas cooktops. Replace if warped, cracked, or causing uneven flame distribution across the burner surface.
I examined the inner burner heads and determined that two of the most frequently used burners were warped and were not making good contact with the burner base. It's a GE Profile series stove about 10 -12 years old. I checked the GE Parts website, and they wanted almost $100 for the large burner head but didn't even have the small one at all, saying it was no longer available. By Googling the parts numbers, I found Appliance Part Pros, and they had both burner heads available. They were still a... Read more
10-32 machine screw secures panels, brackets, door hinges, and handles in ovens and ranges. Replace missing, stripped, or broken screws for tight fit.
All of the information on the web repair sites said "replace the hinges as the springs are worn out." Didn't fix the problem. The top of the door still wouldn't seal, and the. Leaning latch wouldn't catch the door unless you pressed on the door. The inside panel of the door was fatigued. Too many turkeys were set on the door over the years. The hinges are attached to that inside panel, so the stress points were bent over time. I replaced the inside steel panel. Took about an hour. Was able... Read more
