The Whirlpool latch spring is an OEM replacement part responsible for securing the ice container or bin in place on a refrigerator. Its main function is to provide tension and support to the ice container latch, allowing it to engage and disengage properly. When the ice container is inserted into the refrigerator's ice compartment, the latch spring ensures that it securely locks in place, preventing accidental spillage of ice.
Causes of a bad latch spring can include metal fatigue from repeated use, rust or corrosion from exposure to moisture, or physical damage from accidental impacts.
Symptoms of a bad latch spring include:
- The ice container not staying in place and sliding out of position
- Difficulty in properly attaching or detaching the ice container from the refrigerator
- The ice container feeling loose or wobbly when inside the ice compartment
- The ice container not aligning correctly with the ice dispenser or auger
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

- May also cause warm temperatures, longer run times, or loud scraping/whirring noises near the rear or bottom of the unit
- Can contribute to the compressor running hot
What's included: 1 condenser fan motor Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; use gloves to protect from sharp edges
- Access the condenser area; install the new motor in the same orientation as the original
- Transfer the existing fan blade, bracket, and grommets if required; keep wiring clear of the blade
- Restore power and verify fan operation with the system running

The outside of my frigidare refrigerator felt hot near the door gasket on both side of the freezer Trent S. • Bethlehem , PA • May 27, 2014
I found several "threads" on my google search which indicated that it might be caused by a non-functional condenser fan. I removed the back bottom panel and voila, the fan was not spinning even though the compressor was running and felt very hot. If I spun the blades, the fan would run, but as soon as the compressor shut off, it would not start up again without my help. The replacement part was easy to find at AppliancePartsPros.com. I ordered it and had it within 48 hours. I didn't even need...

Whirlpool wtw5000dw1 top loader door would not lock, spin cycle would not function John C. • Cornelia , GA • December 24, 2021
Replaced door latch and switch. Parts are plastic so you must know what you are doing to avoid breaking new parts. Videos were hard to find for my model - eventually I found a video that addressed a different problem but required disassembly of a washer cabinet similar to mine. I removed the control panel using a putty knife and unplugged the wire to the latch switch. Then I remove 3 screws securing the washer's top panel to the back panel. Using a rubber mallet, I gently knocked the top panel...

This thermistor is the refrigerator's temperature sensor. It continuously measures compartment temperature and sends resistance signals to the control, helping the system regulate cooling for steady performance and consistent food preservation.
- Senses compartment air temperature through resistance changes
- Reports to the electronic control to regulate cooling components
- Failure can cause temperatures that are too warm or too cold
- May lead to extended run times, short cycling, or erratic temperature swings
- Some models display a sensor/thermistor error code
What's included: 1 thermistor. Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing and wear appropriate PPE.
- Match the original sensor location and wire routing; secure any clips or retainers.
- Ensure the connector is fully seated and wires are not pinched.
- Restore power and allow the refrigerator time to stabilize before evaluating temperatures.

The freezer cold but refrigerator too warm. Gerard F. • Honolulu , HI • September 02, 2022
First I did the obvious: Changed the evaporator fan motor and condenser fan motor. Then I realized there was too little air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator, so I replaced the air baffle assembly. Now everything works again.
This should have been a piece of cake, but in the 48" Kitchenaid side-by-side built-in, the baffle assembly is mounted on the side wall of the refrigerator rather than the back wall as the video showed. That means the hole for the rear of the two screws holding...

Ice would not dispense Gary A. • Chula Vista , CA • August 21, 2020
Found bad auger motor drive shaft, it was rounded on the end that goes into motor. While I was there I replaced the seal, auger (old one rusty) and coupler. The new auger is stainless steel (I believe and slightly longer) and should not corrode like old white one. If changing auger, make sure you put the assembly back together correctly (take a few pics of the old one and lay it out as taken apart). As always, parts arrived quickly.
