This is a small cap or plug that seals the drain pump opening on a dishwasher. It prevents water from leaking out of the drain pump housing when a secondary drain connection is not in use. Replace this cap if you notice water dripping from the drain pump area or if the original plug is cracked, missing, or no longer sealing properly.

We scoured the web and there are few references to this so I want to add it in case it helps. Replacing hinges solved the popping opening issue. We could not solve our dishwasher door issue after a number of other tries: Latch, Catch, Ropes that attach to the springs that pull the door closed. I tend to believe the solve could be different b/c all these things work together. But for us, we were skeptical that the hinge swap would work and we were very pleasantly surprised. Read more

I ordered a replacement part from AppliancePartsPros.com, however the exact part for my Kitchen Aid dishwasher had been discontinued. There were two differences between the original and replacement part. First, the original rack had two adjustable tine rows, but the replacement only had one.
