Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Split/leaking water line on my lg refrigerator   Craig L. • Collinsville , TX • July 27, 2014

Removed the old line and replaced with the new. This is the sixth time I've replaced the line. Yes you read that right, the sixth time. Lines fail about every 6-8 months so I can change one out now in about 10-15 minutes. Bought the refrigerator in Feb '09 and the line first failed in March 2012. Since then I've had failures in as little as 4 months to as much as 9 months. Frustrating to say the least, but I'm a whiz at changing out the line :-) Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker quit working.   Lee H. • Cleveland , MN • June 04, 2020

This was easier then I made it. Originally took the actual ice maker out without removing the whole system from the door. There are 3 silver screws that do that hold the whole mechanism in place, as opposed to the 5 white screws that hold the ice maker in place. With the entire assembly out it was a matter of routing the ground wire, retaping the wires, and then the whole assembly went back into the door without a problem. Replaced plastic housing for $100. Recommend buying the whole assembly though. Cost a bit more but you would be done in 15min. When you just replace the housing, you have to disassemble the old one very carefully to reuse several parts that do not come with the housing. A lot of fragile plastics. Plus, make sure you have GooGone and 3M thin tape handy; you will absolutely need it. Again, buy the whole assembly and save time and headache. Read more
