First, DO NOT call Sears for parts, their call center knows nothing about the product. App-Pros are the best for help and the right parts. I figured to repair, replace all seals and any item that shows need to and all items that have to do with the spin that may be bad. Repair videos great help. My parents have the older 80 series washer and dryer that gets used way more than a consumer washer and dryer was ever meant to be used. The washing machine finally said im tired. First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. Disassembled and confirmed the clutch was bad. Also noticed a slight leak from the transmission shaft seal. Ordered replacement clutch, seal and oil from appliancepartspros.com. Replaced clutch assembly, gearcase input shaft seal and motor coupler. When I disassembled the washer I realized the shaft seal on the top of the gearcase was leaking and not the input shaft seal. So had to order more parts before I could finish this job. Altogether I replaced agitator dogs, both seals on the gearcase, the clutch assembly and the motor coupler.
