After I struggled to get it apart The repair went very easy, I used brake spring pliers to remove the springs it worked like a charm. I am very pleased with... Read more

Water Inlet Valve
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 12002158

The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This part controls the flow of water into the washer during the fill cycles. The valve opens to allow water to enter the tub and then closes once the desired water level is reached, ensuring the proper amount of water is used for washing. This valve includes the thermistor.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral deposits and sediment buildup, electrical issues such as faulty solenoids, or wear and tear from frequent use.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • The washer not filling with water
  • The washer filling slowly or not stopping filling
  • Leaks from the valve area
  • Inconsistent water levels during cycles

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Potential series changes might cause the valve to be part number WP22004333. Make sure to verify your model number for the correct part.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Will not fill with water
  • No hot or cold water

Fixes squealing or slow stopping at end of spin cycle. This spring maintains brake tension so the basket stops promptly. DIY repair takes about 1 hour.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You A scretching when the brake would be applied and the drum would come to a stop   Mike W. • Batavia , IL • March 20, 2015

I replaced the: brake stator, rotor, and snubber ring. I did need to remove the stator which allowed the spring to decompress. I used 2 C-clamps to control the force when it was removed. To re-secure all the components I stood on the stator to compress the 200lbs spring until the screws could take the load safely. The entire thing took about an hour to slowly go through everything. Timer
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP21002232

This is the timer for a washing machine unit. The timer controls the electrical parts and the length of time that the washing machine cycles run. This part is responsible for the water level, filling the tub and draining the tub, and settings. When the timer goes bad, the washing machine will no longer go through its cycles and it won't advance. It may stall in the middle of a cycle, skip a cycle, or won't even start at all. The timer will stop working if it burns out. Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet before replacing this part. This replacement is fairly easy and takes approximately one hour to complete, depending upon the skill level of the person performing the task. This timer is compatible with washing machines that are manufactured by Maytag and Whirlpool. It is sold individually and it comes directly from the manufacturer. This part is made out of high-quality materials.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Timer will not advance
