Replaced valve had some trouble removing the fitting from the valve as the new fitting was slightly too large and had to be replaced with the fitting from the old valve. Used a large crescent wrench to grip the valve at the base and I was able to apply enough force to remove both fittings transferring old fitting to new valve. Dryer making loud noise or won't dry? A cracked or loose blower wheel often causes poor airflow. Moderate DIY repair, 1-2 hours with basic tools.
I disassembled my dryer and found that the fan(blower wheel) was "free-spinning" on the motor shaft. A common problem with this model Maytag dryer. I also discovered that the right drum roller (drum support roller) was in the process of failing. Note: the fan drive was frozen on the motor shaft, this was the threaded type of motor and fan assembly. Rubber foot installs beneath washer leveling legs to provide stability and protect flooring. Replace if cracked, dried, crumbling, or missing.

We took the dryer out of the laundry room and took it apart, after reviewing numerous videos at Appliance Parts Pros for direction. Removed front panel, front bulkhead and drum. Then removed exhaust duct, blower assembly and finally motor. (Use large flat blade screw-driver to press very hard down and out on motor mount to remove). Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Cleaned mold/scale off of as much of the door as I could while in there as well. Removing parts without breaking plastic tabs to hold the new parts was trickiest part. Read more
