Microwave won't heat but hums loudly? The diode regulates power to the magnetron. Test with multimeter—reads one direction only. Moderate DIY repair.
Replacing a magnetron in my particular 9-year-old microwave (a microwave/hood combination) was not a simple “plug & play” operation. That is why I am placing this in the slightly difficult area. First, it takes 2 people to remove the microwave from the top of the stove. Next the main outer panel need to be removed. After that, 2 sheet metal panels need to be removed in order to expose the high voltage components for testing. Always discharge the high voltage capacitor first before doing... Read more

Microwave turntable won't rotate or makes rattling noise? This motor drives the glass tray for even heating. Easy 10-minute DIY fix with basic tools.
Obtained the replacement motor and tray coupler from Appliance Parts Pro. Video of the typical replacement was very helpful to show what to expect and how to replace the motor and coupler. The removal of the bottom plate was held in place by several phillips screws. The motor was attached with two torx screws. The electric connection clips to the motor required needle nose pliers to pull them off. The tray coupler was simple to install after the motor was secured and bottom plate was replaced.. Read more

...Because the little latches break off the ring. Having made that embarrassing discovery, there was little to be done except order a new Ring-Turn for my Whirlpool microwave. Happily, you had the part in stock, and the one I received is a perfect fit and appears to be a bit more sturdy than the one included with the microwave from the factory. The fix was to open the box, take the glass turntable out of the microwave, remove the broken part, put the new Ring-Turn in place, put the glass... Read more

Microwave runs but won't heat food? A failed magnetron is the likely cause. This high-voltage tube generates microwave energy for cooking. DIY repair.
I researched the problem. Found the solution online and ordered parts from AppliancePartsPros.com. It only took a screwdriver to make the repair. The only confusion I had is my model of microwave had a double diode, and the one sent to me (by model number) was a single diode. I wasn't sure what to do, either install the new single one or put the old double unit in. I went with the new single diode, and it works fine. I don't know why the two differences, but it all worked out. Read more

The grill vent is only held in place by two screws. Super simple fix. Remove the two screws and the old grill vent, position the new vent and put the two screws back in. Replacing the cord required that cabinet to be removed. Lots of screws on the back, top and bottom. Once the screws were removed, the cabinet pulled back.
