Microwave won't heat or stops working? This thermal cutoff thermostat prevents overheating damage. DIY-friendly repair, typically takes 10-15 minutes.
The wonderful parts pros on the phone said that it was probably the diode or the magnetron. So we tried the cheapest way first and it worked so happy to have my microwave back and working for only a few dollars rather buying a new appliance. Read more
Controls airflow in your microwave's venting system. Installs in the duct assembly to regulate steam and moisture release. Replace if cracked or missing.
This damper was added to the outside vent duct line as an additional block against outside air intrusion. Under spousal orders I had just changed the microwave vent to the outside (the proper way to go, but much more difficult to accomplish) but then there was some "flowback" when the wind was pressing against the back of the house (westward facing), and I was ordered to reduce this flow before the winter arrived in full force. There is this same damper on the microwave unit itself, but I... Read more
The Locker Holder Asm is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It secures and supports both the latch mechanism and door safety switches that holds the microwave door securely closed and prevents operation when open. This assembly works alongside other door components, such as the door handle and magnetron, to ensure a tightly sealed door and proper safety features for safe microwave use.
Causes of a bad latch and switch holder assembly can include cracked or broken plastic clips that mount it to the door, stripped mounting holes, or a deformed shape that prevents proper securing of the latch and switch mechanisms.
Symptoms of a bad latch and switch holder assembly include:
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
The microwave worked sporadically. Sometimes jiggling the door worked or multiple opening and closings. The final straw was when the microwave turned on by itself while I was washing dishes. It was unplugged until a repair could be made. I opted to replace the entire door switch assembly rather than individual switches since this is a more cost effective approach. There is no need to uninstall the microwave, just leave it in place. Remove the top vent grill completely (two screws). ... Read more

Microwave not heating or cooking food? A failed magnetron is the likely cause. This high-voltage tube generates microwave energy for heating and cooking.
This was much easier than I expected. First and foremost discharge the capacitor, google has the instructions. The diagnosis was also easy, really just 3 parts, the Magnetron, the Capacitor, and the Diode. With a simple multimeter measuring the resistance I was able to determine the Magnetron had shorted out and the diode was bad. I replaced all three components which fixed my issue. Read more
Mounting hardware kit for over-the-range microwaves. Includes screws, nuts, and washers to secure microwave during installation. Replace missing hardware.
Fix a microwave clock or timer that won't advance with this AC synchronous motor. Restores gear-driven timing functions. Straightforward repair.
Ordered the new motor and upon arrival, installed it. The only concern I had was that the motor I ordered was not specified for this model (Panasonic), but for a General Electric. (I could not locate one specified for the model I had). However, the specs for the new GE motor were exactly the same, so I took a chance and as it turned out, worked out well. Read more
