Defroster in freezer not functioning causing the freezer to frost up and the fridge to not cool appropriately Eddie R. • Debary , FL • January 06, 2015
I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). After sliding out the back wall I could see that the entire coil area was frosted and iced up. I took a blow dryer and melted all of it over...

Evaporator fan motor whining keeping me up at night then it sounded like rocks were in it Judy P. • Lakeside , CA • March 30, 2015
It was after 11:00 at night a few nights ago, I couldn't sleep listening to the whining of the fan in the freezer, it was running and making noise sounding like waaoooww, waaaoww. It also sounded like grumbling of a garbage disposal. The refrigerator fan motor was so noisy it was keeping me up all night going on and off running really loud and about to fail. So I was desperate, and called AppliancePartsPros when I couldn't get to sleep near midnight because the fan was so noisy and Bud in...

Ice flapper door stopped closing Lawrence D. • Holly Springs , NC • March 21, 2016
My refrigerator is 13 yrs old and began to build up frost in the ice cube shoot and the water tube began to freeze up over night. The flapper door was not closing completely. I simply removed the control panel by pulling up and out on the bottom edge, the edge is only about 1/8 inch thick, so don't reach in to far. You should be able to feel a small division line between the control panel and the refrigerator. No screw driver was needed to expose the 4 mounting screws of the inner dispenser...

Nothing worked except the light :) Przemyslaw B. • Wallington , NJ • September 20, 2014
I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. The repair technician asked for $500 for a repair and that is on top of the $230 I paid him two days before. I looked up the parts and decided to try myself and it paid off. Great instructional videos. Thanks

Refrigerator light switch broken. W W. • Bettendorf , IA • April 20, 2020
I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge.
However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models.
I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch.
So the correct method to replace the light switch in a newer model refrigerator is as...

Fridge not cooling Raymond P. • Austin , TX • March 21, 2017
I have an 11 year old GE Monogram side by side built-in fridge that had been having cooling problems intermittently. The fridge would work for a day and then the compressor would not come on for 8 hours and temps would rise to the upper 20s in the freezer. Fans, lights, and everything else appeared to be functioning properly. It went like this for a few weeks and we put it off until the compressor decided not to come on at all for a full day.
Being barely able to use a multi-meter, I watched a...

Broken lever on the ice dispenser funnel Donald B. • Warrensburg , MO • August 18, 2014
I had started to order the part from GE at $34.95 + shipping when I did a search and found AppliancePartsPros.com. I was able to get the same part for half of the price of GE. I placed the order and actually to my surprise received the part the very next day. I watched the video provided on-line to see how to replace the part. It took me about 10 minutes and everything is working well. Beats paying a repairman to come out on their schedule and do the same thing at, I am sure, a much higher...

Bad water dispenser micro switch on my ge fridge James G. • Melbourne , FL • November 23, 2014
After disconnecting power to the fridge, I first removed the ice maker/water dispenser/fridge control faceplate. This easily popped out using a flat head screw driver. Then disconnected the 3 wire harness connections to the control board. I next removed the plastic dispenser housing shield. There's only 4 screws that hold this on. Finally, I removed the Micro-switch, disconnected the two wire connectors and installed the replacement switch and reinstalled everything. The repair took only...

Frozen water line Richard R. • New Bern , NC • September 21, 2014
BEWARE THE HAIRDRYER
In an effort to unfreeze the indoor water supply line with a hairdryer the extreme heat deformed not only the activator paddle but the housing that surrounds it. In the time it took to order and install replacement parts the frozen blockage had thawed. Back in business for now and if the problem
reoccurs I will be looking for a different path to resolve the issue.

Condenser fan stopped on my big 2003 Monogram 4 foot wide ZIS480D Refrigerator. It is top mounted. The fridge had to be rolled out. 20 screws removed and the top sheet metal to get at the condenser. That was the only way to get at it. Works like new now.
