This is a 12-inch radiant surface heating element designed for use on a glass-top electric range or cooktop. It sits beneath the glass surface and radiates heat upward to cook food evenly on the corresponding burner zone. Replace this element if the burner fails to heat, heats unevenly, or does not reach the correct temperature when turned on.
Replaced the element. 1st- Turn off the power to the appliance. The cook top is held on with two screws - access the screws by opening the oven door. Cooktop is hinged, so just pull up near oven door and hold in place with, say, a three foot long stick. The elements are held in place by bracket attached to the cooktop.
