I spoke with the experts at parts pro and they suspected the main power board. I ordered the main power board along with the control panel. Since I was taking everything apart I decided to replace other components as well- thermostats, thermistor , sensor wire. When I was all done the old LG was back to working like new. I found my model number on AppliancePartsPros.com very easily and found the new element and temperature sensor kit. The temperature has always been a little off, so I figured I needed the new sensor. I am glad I also ordered the element. When I took everything apart I discovered that the wire connector had burned off and the element was no good anymore. I have had the unfortunate problem of fixing this previously, so knew what to order. I ordered the defrost sensor and heater... and replaced both. Honestly, all I needed was the sensor I did and ohm test and got 0 on it... meaning it was bad, but just in case I replaced the heater. The fridge works great now, but I would suggest if this is your first time with this issue, remove the panel, unplug both sensors from the fridge, and do and ohm test while they are still in the fridge... and then... The dishes were not drying on our 5yr old LG dishwasher. After removing the front door cover, I verified that the blower motor was operational and the vent was not blocked. I removed the diswasher from the cabinet, accessed the heating element from the bottom of the unit, and found the heating element did not have continuity. Ordering the right part is the key. This is the element with 3 wire connectors NOT the usual kind with 2 prongs that slide in. Thank goodness this company carries these elements for old GE built-in stoves. I'm not super handy but replaced two in about 40 min. Make sure you save the old ceramic clamps. The three prongs of the element with connected wires need to fit completely in the ceramic grooves so the two sides can be clamped together. The new element comes with everything you need but... I replaced the temperature sensor, the thermo fuse, and the heating element that thaws the evaporator on a cycle to keep the evaporator from freezing up. The most time consuming part of the repair was waiting for the fridge to thaw out so that I could remove the cover. I disconnected the fridge the night before and placed a fan on low with the doors open so that it was thawed out when I awoke. After removing the back cover in the freezer compartment with a Phillips screwdriver, I saw the evaporator coils completely iced up, which blocked all airflow. A hair dryer was used to completely melt the ice, which took about 15 minutes and filled up the drain pan almost to the top.
