Replaced broiler element. Read more

Removed 2 sheet metal screw pulled element out about 2 inches. Removed two Spade connections. Removed the element from the oven. Inserted the new element into the over, connected the two spade connector. Reinstalled the two sheet metal screws. Set the oven to bake for testing and tested until the element turned red. Total time less than 5 minutes. Read more

I called GE and they sent a tech out. $89 service call. Had I REALLY inspected the oven the hidden element had blown and separated and part of it welded itself to the inside of it's compartment. GE wanted another $350 to come back and fix it. I bought the part here for around $55 and had it running again in about an hour! Read more

Unplugged the stove, unscrewed the mounting plates from the back unsnapped the wires then revered the procedure to install new one. Read more

Removed the element "easy just four screws" unplugged two connecting wires, removed element. Did a "continuity test" on element, it failed, so I ordered a new one and installed it. It works great now. Read more

Isolated the problem to extreme frost build up on the evaporator coils. I measured an open circuit on the defrost heater/thermostat, so I ordered both. Following the procedure in the GE service manual for this refrigerator, I gained access to the evaporator in the back of the freezer section, and I replaced the both heater element and the defrost thermostat. My 1984 GE Electric Stove model number was very close to an another entry, but not actually in appliance repair pros' model numbers list. Turned off breaker to oven, took pictures of existing broil, supporting bracket and shield attached to oven, removed screws holding element, support piece and shield, removed bracket and shield, pulled out the element, took another close-up picture of the wires connected to element, removed wires, connected new element, turned breaker on to see if connection is correct, turned it off, installed element, shield and support bracket (in this order).
