Icemaker Thermistor Parts

I am not an electrician, just a housewife with limited funds and a desire to DIY. I used the provided videos for knowing how to replace everything except the heating element which I just guessed based on other reviews and seeing how the other parts worked. I watched the AppliancePartsPros.com video, which made the replacement of an ice maker look pretty easy. The only problem was that my existing wiring harness was affixed to the inside of my refrigerator, whereas in the video, the existing cord was shown as readily disconnectable, so I was unsure how to proceed. I used Fixya as an initial source describing my problem. I got two responses which were very helpful. One that the "coils" were probably the problem. Two, that the problem could be the thermostat or a thermistor in the dryer. I verified that AC was coming from the timing control, that both the two terminal and three terminal coils,the igniter and shut off thermostat all had continuity. • Ice maker dispenses too much ice

I replaced the ice maker after replacing the ice try and before that the ice chute gasket. All easy fixes. However, I am still seeing some frost build-up leading me to believe that the issue is just a faulty design, which I have read other posts on. Just too much warm air gets in the ice maker because it is located in the refrigerator, plus warm air probably finds its way from the outside dispenser, up the chute into the ice maker. Condenser was encased in solid block of ice due to automatic defrost not working. Replaced thermostat and ADC control board. Working fine now. Most tedious part was using a heat gun to melt all the ice off the condenser coils. You will need a couple small wire nuts to splice the new thermostat into the existing harness (they are not included). Service tech wanted over $400 to repair, fixed it myself for half that. Thanks ! I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). I noticed that the bottom of the plastic bucket was cracked even though it was less than two years old. I called Samsung and they wanted to charge me almost $200. Instead, I found the part at appliance parts pros for half that cost. Since I replaced the ice tray bucket assembly, my ice maker is working perfectly! Read more

• Takes too long to dry

After I cleaned out the typical 1.5 pounds of lint from the vent, ( I do it every 2 months), I went searching for a solution. Checked and cleaned vent which was in need of cleaning, but not too bad (I do not consider this a primary causal detail, but can be a problem, so clean yours). Replaced Hi-Limit Thermostat (safety thermostat) after confirming the circuit was open with ohm meter. While I was in there, I completely cleaned the heater and ducting and internal workings of the dryer.
