I opened the top of the dryer and found the seam had broken as well as the tub was cracked. This unit is only three years old. I tried first by grinding the seam down a little but to no avail. I ordered the drum from applianceparrtspros,.com and within two days had the part delivered to my front door. i found a video on the exact repai on you tube and one hour later had a quiet running dryer. Replaces a cracked, damaged, or chewed-up outer tub that no longer properly contains water or supports the inner basket during wash and spin cycles.
The main problem was fixing the inner tub. The "Spider Assembly" is attached with six screws, but the manufacture does not supply this as an individual part. This is good since the manufacture has a lifetime warranty in the inner tub. The manufacture supplied the inner tub. I purchased the outer front tub from Appliance Parts Pro. A fair price and excellent delivery time provided me with a quick up and run time to complete this repair. Read more
Replacement dryer drum front bulkhead panel. Installs at the front of the drum assembly. Needed when cracked, warped, or damaged from wear.
Main housing that encloses the wash basket and holds the drum bearings. Replace when cracked, leaking, or when bearings are worn and cannot be serviced.
This repair went exactly as the video described. The video made it unbelievably easy. Took about 2.5 hours only because I scrubbed and cleaned all hoses and pars in and out. Our washer is 12 years old and had some build up. Seriously don't shy away, this was $250 with a new belt. Compared to a new front loader $1200-$1500, repairs the way to go. My only scare or concern was that the inner basket spider was rotten (galvanic corrosion (dissimilar metals) however it was just dirty. Tips 1. The... Read more
Replacement outer tub assembly for washers. Installs as the main water-holding drum. Replace if cracked, corroded, or damaged. Includes bearing housing.
The bearing is molded into the outer tub. Th process is not complicated but does take about two hours. The most difficult part of the process was filing information on opening the top of the washer. Some information says to use a putty knife an push in to release the catch but on the version we have you need to unbolt two sheetmetal screws in the back, pull forward on the top and lift up. You only need to remove the top two screws in the back. When putting the top back on make sure you have... Read more

Washer outer tub assembly houses the inner basket and includes bearings and tub seal. Replace when cracked, damaged, or bearings are worn out.
Posted my problem on APP's Question and Answer Forum. Was concerned about liquid trapped in top and bottom plastic rings of SS laundry basket when I removed it. Was advised by APP's tech service this was normal and is added during manufacturing to add weight to improve efficiency of spin cycle. I purchased and replaced the outer tub with a new shaft, bearings and seal already assembled (about the same price as purchasing shaft/bearing/seal assembly and installation tool without the tub). This was the 2nd time my husband and I had to replace the bearings in just over a year. This time we decided to replace the spider because of the corrosion on the shaft which goes through the water seal. I believe we had the corrosion on the last repair but wasn't informed enough to realize to check for this. Again the job took us days, it's a straight forward job but there are times you have problems, such as pounding the shaft out of the bearings. We had to soak overnight and still had to... Read more
