Magnetron Parts

Magnetron Assembly (Microwave High-Voltage Tube)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB27X10939

Magnetron assembly that produces the microwave energy used to heat food. Replacing a failed magnetron restores heating performance so the oven can warm and cook food properly. What it does

  • Generates the microwave energy that heats food; a failed magnetron typically causes little or no heating.
  • Can produce loud humming or buzzing if failing.
  • May cause sparking/arcing inside the cavity or a burning/odd smell when faulty.
  • A bad magnetron can lead to blown fuses or tripped safety devices.
What's included One magnetron assembly. Install notes
  • High-voltage component — unplug the appliance before service. The high-voltage capacitor can retain dangerous charge; do not touch terminals.
  • Recommended for installation by someone experienced with microwave high-voltage systems.
  • Ensure all panels and covers are reinstalled before powering on.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Would no longer heat food   Charles J. • Keller , TX • March 06, 2015

Printed out and followed the online written instructions and referred to the video several times. For us, it was a two person job to safely support the front of the microwave while removing the two mounting bolts which go through the cabinet from above. After tilting the front down, lifting the back up and off of the wall bracket required both of us. Not overly heavy, just awkward. The replacing of the magnetron and diode went fine, just follow the instructions. There are lots of screws to... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave stopped working, unit would run but food would not get hot   Garry H. • Monmouth Beach , NJ • November 19, 2019

This was much easier than I expected. First and foremost discharge the capacitor, google has the instructions. The diagnosis was also easy, really just 3 parts, the Magnetron, the Capacitor, and the Diode. With a simple multimeter measuring the resistance I was able to determine the Magnetron had shorted out and the diode was bad. I replaced all three components which fixed my issue. Read more
