Coil Parts

After watching numerous videos I was able to discern that the problem was with one of the following: the timer, the heater, or the thermostat. a short time check showed me that the timer was working so that narrowed it down to the other two. Not having the necessary tools to check those two I ordered both parts. I ordered the both the Pcb assembly and a heater sheath. Upon accessing the Pcb, I immediately discovered it had failed miserably, (contacts burnt and melted, wiring and insulation on one wire suffered severe electrical damage. To put it bluntly a small electrical fire had occurred on the circuit board. There was enough slack in the damaged wire so I removed the affected area, replaced the terminal. Installed replacement burner. Not a one-to-one fit where the wiring is concerned but everything needed to effect the change out was provided with the part. It is important to make notes of what was connected to what on the old one and to compare that to the new one. I used a download of the wiring diagram to good effect because it has the color code for the wiring on it. Just took out old elements and then old pans. Replaced all 4 pans followed by 4 elements. Had to adjust element leads to get a secure level fit. Looked like a new range top when completed. The job was completed in less than 15 minutes. Read more

Firstly, the Ice Door had a kink in the edge, which caused it to stay open and create lots of frost on the coils. $5.00 part, highly recommend it. (By the way, the new door was little too big and it too stay propped open and left a gap so I had to trim the top edge of the rubber with scissors to get it to fully close.) Removed upper frig & lower freezer back evaporator covers to get to the frost buildup on the evaporator assembly. I then used a paint stripper heat gun to melt the ice build up caution should be used to keep the gun moving around as not to damage Wires,Eva,Sensor's. After 15 to 20 min of clearing frost I was ready to replace Drain Plate's & Thermal fuse's. When I had removed the old Defrost Thermal fuse's in the refrigerator & the freezer they looked different! Ordered the replacement part the recommended by your parts department. I then watched a video so I knew what was in Store. The part arrived in less than 2 days & 15 minutes later I was baking brownies!!!!! Voila!!! Done deal!!! Now I am going to order a second one to replace the lower oven's element since it's been 'off' for over a year.
