This is an 8-inch coil-style surface heating element that plugs into a burner receptacle on the cooktop of your range. It provides radiant heat for cooking on the stovetop. We had ordered and installed the drip pans and when we took a look, we knew we needed new elements. Those were perfect; exact replacement. The problem was on the eight inch units, the rim of the drip pan touched the element. It was a simple matter of removing a small bit of the drip pan where the element enters.
