• Freezer not defrosting

I had had the same problem 4 or 5 years ago and spent close to $200 to repair it. I did have the slip from that repair with part #'s so I went ahead and ordered a defrost timer and thermostat. You-tube had plenty of videos on replacing those parts and even before they arrived I was able to add a switch and bypass the broken thermostat and start a cycle manually with the timer. 1) I installed 4 ea new Whirlpool 700855K switches. (The old switches had INF-240P-871 stamped on them. 700855K was the cross-referenced P/N.) The installation was easy. Many of the replacement parts for my 23-year old Jenn Aire cook top are showing as "unavailable" on most parts supplier web sites, but I finally found the proper replacement knobs here. They fit perfectly and now the cook-top works as it should and looks practically new again. The freezer would cool down to 0 degrees after being plugged in but once it hit zero the freezer failed to keep it there, it would warm back to room temp. I ordered the cold control knob and it came very quickly! It did come with directions but failed to address what terminal you plug the black and yellow wires into. The basin would fill but would not agitate, there was no sound, no grinding noises, no sound of a motor running without agitation due to a broken belt. The basin full of water was able to drain if I advanced the timer to Spin. By playing around with the timer dial further, I could get every function of the washer to operate, at least partially. I ordered a new Panel/Facia and bought replacement buttons just to be safe. All were pretty easy, but two things to BE CAREFUL about that are important. First, watch the videos about how to remove and replace the facia panel because if you do it improperly you will easily break the plastic tabs and be screwed. I order both boards because everyone said one board did not fix the problem, until they ordered the other board because the new board does not communicate with new one. Well I replaced the board behind where the error was. That seemed to fix the problem. I never changed the main board under the fridge. So I would say try ordering the board behind where error code is. See if that fixes the problem before ordering both boards. Read more

So initial thought was bad bake igniter. I'bve replaced this before so I replaced it again and it wouldn't glow. Checked broil igniter and same thing, no glow. Checked voltage at molex connector for bake igniter and it went from 6.6v to 3.4v when triggered to glow -- well below the 120v expected.
