Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". First I visited the Sears website for a replacement part since the dishwasher was a Kenmore, but Sears did not carry the same basket that was original to the dishwasher. Front-wheel attaches to the shelf above. Where it screws in is kind of flimsy, no way to repair, had to replace the entire shelf, including the glass. Appliances Parts Pros had the best price, and it arrived quickly. You have to swap the metal brackets from the old to the new shelf (2 brackets x 5 screws), and reuse the old wheels as well. The new slides fit perfectly. One thing to mention is that the slide rails come with the slide bearings so you do not need to buy those separate. When I called I was told I needed the bearings so I bought 3 assuming I would be able to salvage the others. Turns out I did not need them. Read more

If you can't pull out the displacement pins on the crisper cover support clips that allow the wall to carry the weight of the cover, slides and drawer, you may need to push those pins in (they fall down the wall) to remove the clip. During the replacement of both front clips, I had one I could remove and one I had attempted to drill a tiny hole in to be able to pull the pin. Use the videos on this website here and you can repair most brands. Many are duplicate in design. 1. Unplug the machine. 2. Move it away from a confined area to get more room. 3. Remove lint filter and the two screws that hold the exhaust filter port to the top of the cabinet. 4. Use a putty knife or actually a butter knife and release the top of the cabinet from the main drum housing. You will slide the knife between the top and the main cabinet at the plastic catches. After taking the two vegetable drawers out from above, the glass shelf, the pantry drawer and the cross support for the glass, you can get to the two recessed hex head screws holding the end cap. You will need to transfer the metal drawer slide to the new cap, but it doesn't need to come off first. When the end cap is loose, gently rotate it toward the front.
