Burner overheating or stuck on high? This infinite switch regulates temperature by cycling power on and off. Common fix for unresponsive heat control.
I had one element that would operate wide open when turned on the low setting. It needed the switch replaced. Since I was replacing other elements I went ahead replaced them all, adding new drip pans and wiring kits to each new element. Once I replaced everything I was still having issues with the element that had the switch replaced. After further investigation my AC voltage readings were not correct at this element. I traced the problem back to the Molex connector feeding voltage to the... Read more

This door release lever connects the push-button to the latch assembly inside the microwave. Replacing a worn lever restores smooth, reliable door opening so the button works on the first press.
It took a long time to determine the problem but eventually I discovered that the plastic bracket (latch hook) that held the three door-switches showed appreciable wear from repeated door openings and closings. This wear stopped the door from sealing properly and the door switch safety mechanism blew the line fuse. I replaced the worn bracket (AP6230612) as well as the plastic latch mechanism (AP4553585) on the door that engages this bracket (and of course the fuse too) and the microwave now... Read more

I called a rpair service. The men came to the house, torn apart the stove top and advised Replacement of the wire harness. The trip charge of $100 would be deducted from a repair bill of $350, thus they needed an additional $150 for parts and $100 for labor after paying the trip charge. I bought the harness for $60, and the star bits I needed for my drill for $10. My son and I installed the new harness in about 30 minutes, which included a thorough cleanup, saving us $180. Read more

Fix a burner stuck on high or that won't heat properly with this cooktop infinite switch. Restores accurate temperature control. 30-minute DIY repair.
This cooktop has a dual element with an inner burner surrounded by an outer burner. The switch controls either the inner burner alone or both. I diagnosed this problem via the web and the advice was spot on. The problem was a failure of the bottom door switch. I used a multimeter to verify that the switched never closed properly. It took me a minute to figure out how to remove the old switch (press a release tab under the switch while simultaneously rotating counter-clockwise). That was about the most difficult part of the repair. Read more
