Washer making loud grinding noise during spin or agitation? Drive clutch kit repairs worn clutch assembly. Moderate DIY repair, typically 30-45 minutes.
Replaced washer drive block and Cam. I called around and finally settled on Appliance Parts Pros because they helped diagnose the problem, told me what parts to replace and had videos to show me how to do it. In completing the repair I had to remove quite a few pieces of hardware in order to get at the part I was to replace. The videos helped but there is a learning curve while you familiarize yourself with the parts and figure out how the remove them. Eventually I got to a large nut that,... Read more

This OEM replacement kit is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
I watched a video on YouTube that showed my exact problem. It had a link to this part AP5665171 Hub and it showed how to fix it. It was a fairly simple fix. I did not even have to remove the tub. I popped the cap on top of the agitator plate (AGP), removed the bolt hold the AGP on. I tapped on the bolt several time to loosen it. Using an angled screw driver, carefully and slowly lifted up the edges of the AGP until I could use my fingers to carefully pull the AGP off the splined drive... Read more

Fixes loud roaring noise during spin cycle or basket wobbling. Connects basket to drive shaft for smooth spinning. Moderate DIY repair with video.
After ignoring for a couple of years that the bearings were bad on our Whirlpool Cabrio washer and just closing the door to the laundry room, it started slinging grease underneath during the spin cycle. Knowing that the cost to call out a repairman would be close to the cost of a new washer, I decided that it would be a nice Saturday project after reviewing AppliancePartsPros’ repair video. The bearing & tub seal kit and bearing installation tool arrived in two days. I’ve done a lot of... Read more
The Clutch is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This component is essential for engaging the washer’s transmission to facilitate the proper spinning and agitating of the drum during wash cycles.
Over time, the clutch can wear out or become damaged due to frequent use, heavy loads, or mechanical stress. Replacing a faulty clutch is crucial for maintaining the washer’s performance and efficiency.
Symptoms of a bad clutch include:
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
I ordered the parts, after assuring my diagnosis was correct from APP’s knowledgeable representative, and they were shipped quickly. I tipped the washer and disassembled the parts to be replaced and then installed a new clutch, clutch spring and mode shifter. Read more
Fix grinding noise, clicking sounds, or spin failure in your washer. This brake and clutch assembly typically takes 2-3 hours to replace.
We watched the videos posted on AppliancePartsPros.com website several times before starting the work. Once we were confident of the process, we jumped in with the complete disassembly of the washing machine's drum rotating assembly...everything that touched the drum or made it rotate. My son and I disassembled and inspected each part for wear/damage and ordered replacement parts based on condition. The parts came in within 3 days of ordering. My son and I took 3 hours to reassemble and... Read more
Washer won't spin or makes grinding noise during spin cycle? The basket drive rotates the wash basket. Moderate DIY repair with video guidance available.
I ordered what I thought were the necessary parts from appliancepartspro.com as my washing machine wouldn't spin. I should have watched there videos before I began as I took the whole cabinet off and everything and after receiving the parts and watching their video realized I didn't need to do so, at that point in time. When I put the pieces back together I found that the tub was really stuck, it would move but for the most part it was hard to move and creating a horrible noise. I knew I... Read more
The Coupling Washer is a genuine OEM part for LG washing machines. As a crucial component connecting the drive motor to the inner drum, the coupling washer allows for the transmission of rotational force during the spin cycle. This rotational movement generated by the drive motor is what extracts water from clothing, effectively drying clothes.
Symptoms of a bad coupling washer include:
Over time, the constant exposure to vibrations and forces during spin cycles can cause the rubber material of the coupling washer to deteriorate.
This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore washers.
The Mode Shifter & Shaft Assembly is an OEM replacement part for GE washing machines. It is a mechanical component located inside the washer tub that allows for shifting between agitation, spin, and other cycles. The mode shifter and shaft assembly receive input from the control system to precisely change the operational mode at designated points in the cycle. Causes of a bad mode shifter & shaft assembly include worn out or damaged internal gears, stripped or broken shafts, or a loss of integrity in components that restrict smooth shifting between modes. Symptoms of a bad mode shifter & shaft assembly include:
This GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Motor control board was flashing 4 times, indicating that the mode shifter had an error. I disconnected the mode shifter's wire from the controller and measured the resistance between the 2 leads with an ohmmeter. Since the reading was infinite, that meant that the mode shifter coil or in-line thermal sensor was electrically open, i.e. bad. As this fix is near a complete tear-down of the washing machine, here are a few tips I discovered. 1) the hub nut is difficult to remove and you need a... Read more
Fix a washer that won't spin or leaves clothes soaking wet. This clutch assembly engages the transmission for proper spin cycles. DIY repair in 30-60 mins.
In reality, this turned into a full-on rebuild project - with several parts orders, not just a simple repair. But I have to give credit: The parts listings with pictures on the AppliancePartsPros web site were really useful in figuring out what was going on inside the machine, and what parts I would need. Also: The repair videos were critical for me to be able to ensure I was reassembling everything correctly. Shout out to Simon, who was featured in several of the repair videos. His "gorgeous... This shaft and tube assembly supports and drives the washer's inner basket during the spin cycle. Replacing a worn or bent assembly restores smooth rotation and helps reduce noise, vibration, and basket wobble.
After researching the problem on this site, I realized that the most likely cause was a bad bearing contained in the shaft & tube assembly. Essentially, the tub seal failed & allowed water to travel down the shaft & into the housing containing the bearing. I confirmed this by pulling the front cover off of the unit & noticed some brown water pooled directly under the shaft & tube assembly. I followed the disassembly instructions on this site & it wasn't too bad but did take some time as pretty... Read more
Washer won't stop spinning smoothly or makes loud jerking noise when stopping? The brake shoe stops the tub during spin cycles. DIY repair in 1-2 hours.
First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in... Read more
