Compressor clicks and won't start? Run capacitor helps start and run the compressor motor. Most DIYers replace in under 15 minutes with basic tools.
Noticed Rolls on the top shelf no longer frozen, though the meat around it still was. Note: This is a good test, keep something that thaws quickly and is not expensive on top shelf, to act as a barometer for your freezer health! I first found a trip online to advance the defrost timer, as a failed timer is a common issue. I advanced the timer, but nothing happened. I emptied the freezer, then removed the thermostat and tested it. No continuity! With the Freezer continuing to thaw, I... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling or compressor won't start? A failed run capacitor prevents the compressor from running. DIY repair in 10-15 minutes with video guide.
In short - I replaced the evaporator fan motor and the evaporator fan blade. The Appliance Parts Pros website was extremely helpful to me. Here's how. 1. The site helped me identify that even though my Freezer says it's a Frigidaire, it's actually an Electrolux. 2. The site identified the potential screech causing parts. (I didn't take a chance, I bought all three) It was a worthwhile investment. My freezer is 20 years old so it deserved some help. 3. The site provided guidance videos (not... Read more
The Defrost Timer is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire upright freezers. It serves as a crucial component responsible for regulating automatic defrost cycles.
Causes of a faulty defrost timer relate to 20,000+ hours of constant exposure to freezer temperatures as low as -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Such extremes can compromise electrical switching mechanisms over prolonged usage periods.
Symptoms of a failed defrost timer include:
This genuine Frigidaire replacement part is compatible with Kelvinator and some Kenmore units as well.
Suspected it was the thermostat, since temperature stayed the same at multiple settings over a 24 hr period. There was only three components inside the freezer besides the evaporator, the fan was working, so I decided to just go ahead and replace the thermostat and defrost thermostat. Also replaced the defrost timer by the compressor, just to get all the old parts replaced with new. I had already replaced the compressor, so now I've pretty much have a new freezer. The new parts works great and... Read more
Refrigerator making loud noises or not cooling? A worn evaporator fan blade often causes these issues. DIY-friendly repair typically takes 30 minutes.
1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived... Read more

I originally ordered the Fan motor from a appliance dealer. I waited for 5 days for it to arrive. In the meantime I scavenge a motor from a junk refrigerator from the dump. It worked while I waited for the motor from the appliance dealer. When I picked it up 5 days later it was the "wrong" part. I was fuming mad. I went online and found you guys and ordered the correct parts in 5 minutes. It arrived in 1 day and a half, "COOL" ! The repair went quick and smooth and now the refrigerator runs... Read more
Fix a fridge that's not cooling or making loud airplane-like noises. This condenser fan motor kit circulates air through coils. 30min-2hr DIY install.
FIrst, I removed the cardboard cover on the back, exposing the compressor compartment. I noticed the fan was not moving. I touched the blade and it immediately started spinning, but not very fast. The compressor was getting hot, and I think prob. overheating. The fan stopped after a few hours and then "froze" solid the next day. I got the parts and I followed the process in the video to replace the fan. VIdeo was right on the money. but there were some difficulties. The retention clip on the... Read more

Secures door handle to refrigerator door. Replace if missing, stripped, rusted, or corroded from regular use. Essential hardware for handle installation.
I ordered a replacement handle and screws. The process was very easy with the help of one of your "pros" who found all the parts needed and took my order. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it. Removing the old handle and installing the replacement was very easy. It looks great, in fact the replacement is metal, whereas the original was plastic, so it looks better than it ever did! Evaporator coils frozen solid? Defrost thermostat senses coil temperature and triggers the heater to melt frost buildup. Straightforward replacement.
Checked compressor windings - ok. Start relay looked no rattle or burning. Start capacitor seamed ok but hard to check. No 120VC to start relay at any time. Ordered thermistor, and electronic control unit. Figuring it was a bad thermistor not telling the ECU it was warm and to turn on the compressor. Or the ECU was damaged and was not sending the 120v to the compressor. Changed the thermistor first (cheapest part and as Appliance parts pros has a return policy I wanted to start there). ...
