Fix a mixer stuck on one speed or operating only at high speed. This speed control plate regulates mixer speed settings. Moderate DIY repair.
I read a few of your reviews and found that a, "Phase Control Board" may be the problem. It was! Talk about easy to install... It was super easy! I decided to order the, "Speed Control Plate" also as a precaution (Shipping was one price - and it arrived the very next day, Wow! I didn't expect that.) With my screwdriver and good lighting. I fixed it myself! My husband is still in shock. I used forceps to install the, "Speed Control Plate," because I needed something to hold the tension wire - at... Read more
Mixer won't turn or jams at high speed? The worm gear drives the planetary assembly. Common fix when stripped or worn. Video guide available.
This was a problem that I'd had previously with this mixer. The worm gear, which is designed to fail (so that more serious damage does not occur to the motor), did fail while I was mixing some multi-grain bread dough. After the previous failure (pre-youtube days), I took the machine in for repair. The repair-shop cost came to about $150 in labor. Parts were extra. This time, I decided to do the repair myself, since I figured that I knew what was wrong. I found the appliancepartspros... Read more
Retaining clip secures mixer components in place. Replace if cracked, rusted, or missing to restore proper assembly and stability of internal parts.
The blower wheel had been previously “repaired,” but the repairman did not install a retaining clip or clamp, so the new part was destroyed in about a year and a half, as the motor shaft rounded all the square edges in the plastic hub. The old blower wheel came off easily and the new part was a perfect fit. The center clamp that comes with the blower wheel kit would probably hold it in place by itself, but I also purchased and installed the retaining clip (#35) as well, because the end of the... Fix a mixer stuck at one speed or losing power under load. This speed governor regulates motor performance. Moderate DIY repair with video guide.
I bought the 3 components- Speed Control Plate, Speed Governor, and Phase Control Board after researching what components could be the culprit of the issue. All in all about 1.5 hours of work to do all 3 parts from tear down to button-up. Read more
Metal sleeve bearing that supports the mixer's rotating shaft. Replace if you hear grinding noises or see metal shavings in grease. Confirm fit by model.
This time I replaced the front and rear bearings and thrust bearing and all the gears. The hardest part is thoroughly cleaning out all the old grease. After re-greasing and assembly mixer ran like new. I wish a more robust worm gear was available. A snap ring plier is a must for this job. Read more

Lubricates planetary gears in stand mixers. Replace when grease darkens, mixer makes noise, or after gear replacement. Confirm fit with your model.
My KitchenAid Professional Series 6 mixer which is about 20 years old suddenly stopped working. The motor would run but the beater would not complete a full circle without a push from me. I took the gearbox apart to figure out why the beater would not turn and discovered that the worm follower gear had most of the teeth stripped from it. I believe this was caused by a lack of grease. As I removed the gearbox cover, I noticed that most all the grease had been thrown to one side of the gearbox.... Read more

Replaced the center gear and since they sent the hub along I replaced that too just to be safe. Used the live chat before ordering to make sure I was ordering the correct part. The person I chatted with was very nice and very helpful and parts came in good shape, and just as ordered. Replaced the stripped gear the next day and added a bunch of grease and the mixer works like new. Was very impressed with their diagrams and helpful videos as well as their large selection of parts.
