Michael L Santa Ana , CA December 26, 2015 Appliance: Model BASIC KITCHENAIDE MIXER 20 +year maintenance Checked out You tube video. Easy tune up. One gasket was damaged and I did not notice that the brush holders has no brushes. I believe a quick call to Appliance parts pros will fix this, besides I need a few more parts. I expect to get another 20+ years from this KitchenAide mixer, once repairs are competed. Watch out for the single lock washer located on the rear upper housing screw, you don't want to lose this! Pat T Coeur D'alene , ID December 13, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool 4 1/2 Qt. Stand Mixer Classic - Tilt K45SSAC-0 Would not turn on I replaced the Board-Phas and speed control plate since power was not making it to the motor. When I received the speed control plate it had nuts on the upper screws with springs, since my old one didn't have nuts I assumed that the nuts were to keep the springs on until installed. After putting it back together, I noticed that though it worked, the first two settings did nothing. Now, guys, I was desperate, OK. I downloaded the service manual and read it from front to back, and when I got to the part where you remove the speed control plate, it said to loosen the lock nuts, (lock nuts?). On the replacement speed control plate you require the nuts. I put the nuts on, adjusted the depth and we're golden. Thanks for the parts and speedy service, Pat Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
Robert C Augusta , WI April 29, 2019 Appliance: KitchenAid Portables - Stand Mixer KSM90 Stopped working speed control, was intermittent before it quit (it was going on for a while) I purchased a new speed control plate, governor, phase control board and seal. As long as I was fixing it, I just changed everything. As I was removing the old, I found one wire had broken off the control plate and had to replace the flag connector on the wire.(white wire) I followed the videos and they were great!! I would not have known about the speed control adjustments and would have taken the screws out without thinking. The repairs went easy as the video. I checked the adjustment and had the right revolutions at low and 6. However I did not have any different speed above 6. It seemed to be dragging a bit. I took off the planetary and cleaned and applied new grease, put it back together and then had the higher speeds. Magic?? Back in business!! I ordered the parts on a Tuesday morning, they were shipped within a short time, I think less than a hour and had them in my hands the next day. Hard to believe they came so fast (FED EX) I am glad I found you! Thanks! Warren B Baytown , TX March 17, 2020 The problem was with the brushes, one of the brushes got stuck and would not extend all the way to the armature I ordered the armature and field-asm cause I did a test on the armature by connecting it directly to the power line and did not have any movement. Upon changing the armature and assembling the brushes, I realized one of the brushes was getting held up. I opened up the edges of the brush holder and that did it. I knew nothing seemed wrong with the parts I took out so I concluded that was the problem because I had just bought it, used it only twice and it stopped working.
