Fix uneven cooling or defrost issues with a new temperature sensor. Most DIYers complete this repair in under an hour with basic tools and our video.
I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). After sliding out the back wall I could see that the entire coil area was frosted and iced up. I took a blow dryer and melted all of it over... Read more
Water dispenser won't shut off or no water flowing? This inlet valve controls water to your ice maker and dispenser. DIY repair in 10-15 minutes.
I seared the web and found Appliance Parts Pros site and when I input my GE refrigerator model number I was able to do some diagnostics on their site. It was indicated from my research that the Water Inlet valve most likely was at fault for my problems. I ordered the replacement valve from them and they shipped the same day as the order and it arrived the next day, faster than I had expected. I viewed their video and it was very good at explaining what I had to do to replace the valve on my... Read more

Connects water supply tubing sections in your refrigerator. Replace this plastic compression union if it's cracked, leaking, or broken. Installs inline.
We noticed a puddle of water in front of the fridge a couple of months ago-dried the floor up both times and thought someone had dropped ice-or spilled water. A couple of weeks ago there was water dripping through the dropped tile ceiling in the basement. I shut off the water for the water supply to the fridge at the copper pipe in the basement and removed some of the tiles which felt a little damp. It still dripped all day. When my spouse came home he pulled down more of the tiles. It was as... Read more
Interior light not working when door opens? This light switch controls refrigerator illumination. DIY-friendly install takes 30-45 minutes with video.
I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch. So the correct method to replace the light switch in a newer model refrigerator is as... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling but lights work? This inverter control board regulates compressor speed. Moderate DIY repair with proper diagnosis.
I have an 11 year old GE Monogram side by side built-in fridge that had been having cooling problems intermittently. The fridge would work for a day and then the compressor would not come on for 8 hours and temps would rise to the upper 20s in the freezer. Fans, lights, and everything else appeared to be functioning properly. It went like this for a few weeks and we put it off until the compressor decided not to come on at all for a full day. Being barely able to use a multi-meter, I watched a... Read more
