Fresh food section not cooling on GE French door refrigerator. Since the freezer and the lower part of the fresh food section was freezing. The evaporator fan was the likely issue. Colin O. • Brewster , MA • November 12, 2021
Shut off power in the panel box - easier than getting at the plug behind the unit. Had to take out the lower full-width drawer and the two crispers next. Removed two screws on the shelf above the wide drawer and removed the two shelf parts. Next was removing a screw from each wide drawer support. Then I pulled the support forward about an inch to disengage it from a post towards the back. There is a wiring connection in the right-hand support you will need to disconnect.
Next, I removed a...

Nothing worked except the light :) Przemyslaw B. • Wallington , NJ • September 20, 2014
I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. The repair technician asked for $500 for a repair and that is on top of the $230 I paid him two days before. I looked up the parts and decided to try myself and it paid off. Great instructional videos. Thanks

First, cleaned all the dirt and lint from the condenser radiator, the fan motor is in a metal housing holding the fan motor in place. look carefully and there is a sheet metal screw at the bottom of the housing, 1/4 inch screw head sheet metal screw. I removed the screw and that released the housing from the base of frig. then very carefully , I turn the housing with the fan motor still in the housing a worked out of the frig base where it would be easier to replace the bad motor. the...

LG er 1f error code (ice maker fan) Thomas W. • Manassas , VA • March 18, 2019
I only needed the Bracket Assembly motor, not the DC Motor or Fan Assembly that I also ordered so I will be sending those back. The repair was extremely straightforward with a few bumps along the way. All told it took me about an hour. I started with shutting off the breaker for the refrigerator and putting all of the frozen food in coolers. Then I removed the drawers and the bracket for the drawer rails on the left side (as your facing the refrigerator). I then proceeded to gently pry off the...

Conderser motor went out David W. • Durand , MI • April 03, 2014
After reviewing the 'how to' video on AppliancePartsPros.com, I unplugged the refrigerator and removed the back cover to access the motor. I then unplugged the wiring and removed the bad motor. I cut the clip plug and wired it to the new motor, installed the fan blade from the old motor and re-installed the new motor. After connecting the clip plug and re-installing the back cover, I plugged the refrigerator in and checked the interior about 5 minutes after the repair. Everything has been...

Intermittent condenser fan noise leading me to believe fan bearing failure imminent Robert M. • Munroe Falls , OH • April 22, 2021
Unplugged refrigerator and removed access panel from back of fridge. Have had this panel off many times for dust removal. Panel is a cheap piece of glorified cardboard on this Whirlpool model, which is a shame given that it was a $1000 refrigerator. Fan motor is mounted on stamped sheet metal bracket which I removed from cabinet with old fan attached to it. Metal bracket held in place by 4 1/4 inch hex head sheet metal screws. Two outermost screws can be removed with nut driver but access to...

In door ice dispenser wasn't working as plastic gear box was cracked & fridge was just over 1 year old Edward H. • Brunswick , GA • April 01, 2015
You'll need a screwdriver with one of those small square heads and a small socket wrench.
Remove ice bin. Unscrew 2 screws on casing surrounding the ice box in order to lift it up and out. Remove 4 screws from plastic piece beneath the ice box that the coupling is mounted to and is part of the ice chute. No need to remove coupling as you can lift this piece out (carefully) with it in tact. If you haven't already, unplug the fridge or turn off the breaker. [I didn't do this sooner because I...

Fan was making noises. Mark M. • Easton , PA • May 15, 2023
My refrigerator's cooling fan was making a noise. It wasn't loud; in fact, it was barely discernible. However, it was just loud enough to annoy me. The fan blade was hitting the shroud every now and then, creating a subtle, yet annoying sound. I'd tried tightening all the screws back there, and it helped-for a while. The noise came back. After looking at the fan motor, I noticed the bushings; it occurred to me that they might be the culprit. And why not? They were the originals installed at the...

1: loud noise on freezer side. 2: no water dispensing Matt M. • Pickett , WI • February 05, 2021
1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was.
2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived...

My frigidaire refrigerator wasn't cooling but my freezer was Pamela A. K. • Dickinson , TX • June 22, 2016
I paid to have a repairman diagnose the problem, HOWEVER, after submitting a quote for repair I knew that it was a ripoff to take advantage of us. He said the prices for the part and labor was given to him by his company. The part (evaporator fan motor) cost me under 40.00 from AppliancePartsPro, yet they wanted 90.00 for it. The labor charge they quoted was 190.00 to install the fan motor, yet after googling the day to install it, it took 10 minutes, had to remove 6 screws and unplug the...
