Removed old handle endcap by unscrewing the two outer screws on the oven door that screw into the endcaps and holds the door together that allows you access the one inner screw that holds the endcap in place. I removed the broken endcsp and replaced with the new one and screwed everything back together. Read more

I replaced all 3 remaining burner controls because they were all original (mid 1970s GE electric range w/coil burners), and one of the controls occasionally made arcing sounds when cycling the burner on and off. If a control is making odd noises - more than just a quiet metallic clicking as it cycles - it should be replaced. Tested the power to the unit by turning on the cooktop portion and saw that I had power to all of the burners. Turned the selector knob to broil and saw that the top element would heat up. I then turned off the breaker to the unit. I then decided to take out the baking element to do a continuity test. When I touched it, a 1.5 inch section fell out. I was able to find the model number on the lower right hand side of the range/oven, a GE True Temp. I Googled it to find parts, and thought I had found the correct sensor, but was very pleased that the ApplianceParts sire suggested I check compatability again before the order. I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on.
