Door Latch Bracket
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP8205451

The Door Latch Bracket is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool built-in microwaves. It is a rigid metal component that securely holds the door latch mechanism in proper position when closed. This is the microwave door latch bracket behind the door release button.

Causes of a bad door latch bracket typically involve fatigue from years of repeated use. Impacts, warping from excessive heat exposure, or stresses from heavy pan loads may weaken or deform connecting surfaces over time as well.

Symptoms of a compromised bracket include:

  • Misalignment causing difficulty latching or fully closing the door
  • Cracking or looseness allowing excessive play of latch components
  • Recurring problems with the door sealing tightly or staying shut securely
  • Gaps that allow microwaves to escape from the cooking cavity

This OEM Whirlpool replacement part is also compatible with KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, and some Kenmore built-in microwave models.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Door stuck closed

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Whirlpool microwave door pushbutton broken would not open door   Marnie M. • San Jose , CA • January 24, 2015

Found the fix description online - purchased the Door Latch Bracket. I did need to remove the Microwave from the cabinet it was built into. Required removing the screws at the four corners of the trim piece surrounding the microwave. Then removed the oven with the frame bracket attached - removed the bracket, then needed a star shaped secure screwdriver to remove the microwave skin around the sides and top (remove the secure screws from the back and slide the skin toward the back and off). ... Diode
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPR9800486

The Diode is an OEM part for Whirlpool microwaves. It plays a crucial role in the microwave's operation by allowing electrical current to flow in one direction, essential for converting AC power to DC power, which is necessary for the microwave's components to function correctly.

Over time, the diode can fail due to electrical surges, general wear and tear, or exposure to high heat. A bad diode can disrupt the microwave's ability to heat food properly, leading to inefficient performance or complete appliance failure.

Symptoms of a bad diode include:

  • Microwave not heating
  • Sparking or unusual noises during operation
  • Burning smell from the microwave
  •  Microwave shutting down shortly after starting

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • No heat

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My jenn air microwave developed a loud hum and no longer heated anything   Jared B. • Norfolk , VA • October 04, 2014

I am not an appliance repair man. I am a general surgeon. I went online and researched the problem. The consensus was that my magnetron and diode were the most likely culprits. To replace my microwave with a comparable model would have cost at least $800. The diode and magnetron cost around $170. I watched a few videos on YouTube demonstrating how to do the repair safely and I felt like I could do it. I ordered the parts on a Monday evening and had them Wednesday. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchen aid architect ii microwave turntable stopped rotating   Stephanie M. • Colorado Springs , CO • March 25, 2017

First, it was going to cost $95 for an appliance guy just to look at it! I figured there would be an upcharge on the parts + labor on top of the $95, so I took a chance & decided my husband & I could fix it cheaper; we were right, but it was a 3 week process (luckily, we have another microwave in the basement we were able to use in the meantime). I googled the microwave model #, then price checked the same item I thought we needed; printed off the diagrams of the various microwave "systems" &... Read more

By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W10859575

This is a Whirlpool microwave magnetron. The microwave magnetron is one of the main components that control the heating function in the appliance. If a microwave has suddenly stopped heating but is still turning on normally, the problem could be the magnetron. Use a voltage tester to confirm whether this part is causing the problem. This component is made for installation in a microwave and oven combo where the microwave doubles as a vent hood. To replace this part, begin by unplugging the appliance and removing it from above the oven. Two people will be needed for this repair. This part requires exposure to highly sensitive electrical parts that could cause severe injury. This is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. This part is compatible with Whirlpool, Magic Chef, Amana, and Maytag appliances.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave oven power was out; upon examing the internal found in line fuse was blown   Steven D. • La Habra , CA • February 27, 2015

In addition to blown fuse; the fuse holder was melted at one end. Checked the unit to see if any part or wiring that would cause the issue, none was visible. Referred to wiring diagram included inside to identify components, including interlocks. All seemed functional. Bought replacement 20A fuse. Fuse holder no longer available so bought similar unit with 25A rating - little retrofitting. Put unit back together, and it's working so far. Wife is happy. Read more

  • Helps correct stalling under normal load when the original motor is weak or seized
What's included: 1 turntable motor Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker; microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a dangerous charge
  • Typically accessed from the bottom of the microwave; remove the bottom cover to reach the motor
  • Move wire connectors to the new motor in the same orientation and secure with original hardware

High-Voltage Capacitor (Microwave), 1-Piece
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP8184813

High-voltage capacitor for microwave ovens that stores and releases the electrical charge needed to drive the magnetron, restoring heating when the original capacitor has failed and preventing further electrical stress. What it does:

  • Stores high-voltage electrical energy used by the magnetron to produce microwave energy.
  • Works with the high-voltage transformer and diode; a failed capacitor can cause no-heat or reduced-heat conditions.
  • Common, widely accepted symptoms: microwave not heating, loud humming, arcing/sparking, or blown fuse.
  • Replacing a defective capacitor can stop repetitive electrical faults and protect other high-voltage components.
What's included: One high-voltage capacitor. Install notes:
  • Always unplug the appliance before beginning service and discharge the capacitor with an appropriate resistor or discharge tool.
  • Handle and test the component using insulated tools; capacitors can retain dangerous charge even when unplugged.
  • Verify correct part orientation and secure connections; use only the exact replacement specified by the manufacturer.
