Washer won't drain or spin? A clogged or failed drain pump is the likely cause. This part removes water from the tub between cycles. DIY repair in 15-30 minutes.
So, Saturday, the washer wouldn't drain, yes, I tried the Drain/Spin cycle. So I took the clothes out, rinsed them out twice in the laundry sink and dried them. After a quick Google search, I came to the conclusion that the pump was bad and ordered a pump, $125. Over the course of the next four days, expecting the new pump on Thursday, I baled out the washer, pulled it out from the wall and propped up the front (it's HEAVY), removed the front access panel, removed the drain inlet and outlet... Range won't power on after self-cleaning cycle? This high temperature thermostat often fails during cleaning, cutting power and locking the door. Easy 1-minute fix.
Did some Google searches and most comments concerning this issue on LG stoves indicated the high temperature thermostat malfunctions when using the self cleaning function. This malfunction causes complete loss of power for the entire stove and locks the oven door. Since I wasn't completely sure if it was the thermostat or where it was for that matter, I called a service tech to troubleshoot the stove. He was able to determine it was the thermostat and further tested his findings by... Read more
Squealing or grinding noise from your washer? This thrust washer reduces friction between rotating parts. DIY-friendly repair with basic tools.
Upon removal of the lower inspection panel on the front of the machine, my 20 year old son thought the motor was bad by the smell. But he did discover what turned out to be the belt tensioner pulley laying inside the machine. After he pronounced it dead, without a thought to the idler pulley, I looked at the machine and determined the lack of movement was due to the idler pulley having "fallen" off the shaft by looking at the illustrated parts break down provided on this website. Ordered the... Read more

This was a fairly easy fix. The only problem I had was that the cover over the retaining nut was difficult to pull off. I changed to a larger pair of pliers and put a little more muscle to it and it popped right out. There was a little corrosion on the shaft that needed to scraped off for the new agitator to slide on easily but after that was gone the new part slid on and with some downward pressure it seated in. I decided to repair my Amana LWA50AW top loader washer because it has served us well, it is made by Speed Queen and an equal replacement is expensive. These are very dependable washers. The parts I ordered were: part #R9900552 (hub and seal kit) This kit does not include the Tub or Main bearing!!! Nor the drive belt!!! The main bearing is what is attacked by the water due to leaks and makes a jet engine sound as the tub spins faster and faster. Any way, the kit should be updated to include... Read more
